Publisher's summary

In the seventh installment in the Strike series, Cormoran and Robin must rescue a man ensnared in the trap of a dangerous cult.

Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside.

The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organization that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths.

In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner, Robin Ellacott, decides to infiltrate the cult, and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito among its members. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her. . .

Utterly pulse-pounding, The Running Grave moves Strike's and Robin's story forward in this epic, unforgettable seventh installment of the series.

Binge Listen!

Bravura performance by the narrator, in spite of not pronouncing "I Ching" the way it is most usually pronounced these days.

Now the book.

This addition to the series demonstrates the author's unequaled storytelling genius.

Although the plot(s) are contemporary, this book also incorporates some of the best of "Golden Age" British mystery tropes: London, English seaside towns, a hidden and sinister crazy community, eccentric characters, curries, fish & chips, glamor, squalor, and our beloved Robin as ever-ingenious, brave, enduring and unwaveringly determined Yorkshire bred heroine.

It also has, of course, Strike, at his very best, struggling with his complicated life and emotions, while untangling seemingly impossible cases.

This could very well be the author's best book so far.

JK Rowling's Best to Date

I can't think of ANY other book I've been so completely invested in as The Running Grave. JK Rowling delivers with a phenomenal and utterly riveting, edge-of-your-seat addition to the series. Be prepared to set your life completely aside (likely including quite a bit of foregone sleep) as you will be entirely engrossed for the next 34 hours of audiobook perfection.

Just wow

I’m a huge fan of this series and have listened to all of them 2-3 times. This one was a nail biter throughout much of the book and I literally found myself verbally responding to twists and turns. Suspenseful as always but this one has an intensity level that surpasses all of the others - combined. I cannot imagine - or perhaps don’t want to - the level of investigation or interviews etc that were required to bring this work of fiction to light because it is tragically too believable. While an amazing story, captivating in its nuances and character building, it also leaves you with a feeling of unease because you walk away feeling that it is too real or could possibly hit too close to home.
I can’t wait for the next book. Please keep them coming!

Better and Better and Better

Great continuation in the series. Rich in backstories.
However, it is hard to believe that eee-Ching is mispronounced as eye-Ching so many times. Where is your narration editor?

Huge fan

Love, love, love these!
As long as she keeps writing them, I’ll keep buying them.
Absolutely no one better at character/story development.

I love a book that I can dive into and spend hours absorbing.
To anyone that complains about the length, I would say that if you want a shallow read then stay in the puddles, I appreciate a good swim in deep water!
Keep on Rocking, ✌️

Each book is longer than the last !

This series is going the was her Harry Potter series went. Each book is longer than the last. This one was better than the Ink Black Heart book, which I hated so much that I returned it. Just too hard to keep up with the who's who. But 34 hours? I listed while in my deer blind to pass the time staring at the surrounding woods looking for my quarry. After getting my trophy this year, it took some time to finish it.

Galbraith bats another one out of the park

But it’s 34 hours you ask. Yes, and yet it’s once again unputdownable. Clear your social calendar and buy frozen dinners for your spouse. Or maybe plan on cooking elaborate meals that require ingredients only found in the next State over. Anything to find long stretches of time to wolf down this thriller. It’s stupendous.
