Publisher's summary

A new male/male hockey romance from 24-time USA Today best seller Sarina Bowen!

My name is Hudson Newgate, but my teammates call me "New Guy".

That was my nickname in Chicago, too. And Vancouver. That’s what happens when you keep getting traded. Brooklyn is my last chance, especially after my poor performance last season.

But I can make this work. The new guy knows to keep his head down and shoot the puck. The new guy puts the game first.

What he doesn’t do is hook up with the other new guy—a hot athletic trainer who lives in my building. Gavin needs this job with my team. He’s a single dad with responsibilities.

We can’t be a couple. My arrogant agent–who’s also my father–will lose his mind if I’m dating a dude. And my team needs me to score goals, not whip up a media circus.

Too bad Gavin and I are terrible at resisting each other....

Couldn’t Get Enough of These Two

One of Sarina Bowen’s best MM novels today. The narration was great. Teddy Hamilton is my favorite!

Loved it and can't wait for more!

Once again, Sarina gives us a spectacular MM hockey romance where we revisit all our old friends in Brooklyn and also get the chance to meet some new ones. This fresh spin off series is already on my one click list. I love angst in all forms and Hudson’s story brought just the right amount to this story. He has had a career that has left him isolated and without roots. Gavin on the other hand is just trying to find some stability after becoming a single parent. This story checked so many boxes for me, I could hardly wait to read it.

Hudson is the New Guy. He has spent his career being traded from team to team. Managed by his overbearing father who wants him to get the best contract, he has also been encouraged to stay in the closet. When Gavin and Hudson meet in a bar, he thinks this is the perfect opportunity for a quiet hook up. Their night is cut abruptly short when it turns out Gavin is Hudson’s new neighbor and the new trainer for his team. Determined to keep his head down and not make any waves, Hudson keeps his distance, but keeping his distance is more difficult than he anticipates.

I really enjoyed the dynamic and steam between Gavin and Hudson. Each man is unique and different, with a light grumpy-sunshine dynamic. Gavin’s daughter added a cute lightness to the story and I always love when characters fight the inevitable a bit. I loved this story so much that I read and listened to it. The narration by Teddy Hamilton and JF Harding was excellent. I could not have cast these characters better and the differences in the nuances of their voices enhanced the story that much more. I am really looking for more and can’t wait to see where Sarina takes this series after the glimpse we got at the end.

Hockey and self-discovery

Sarina girl… you ate with this. Wow! The power of the pen shows with this story. The characters are well written and the story is kept you emotionally engaged. The readers both brought the story to life and deserve their praise. So many talented writers and I’m glad I found this one.

Great new spin off!

4.25 Stars 🌟

I am already a fan of Ms. Bowen's Brooklyn Bruisers Series and it looks like this new Hockey Guys series is going to be a spinoff and/or a bit of a genre split (M/M).

Regardless, to me, I loved being able to step back into a world that has already been developed, with characters that I have come to know and love. Unfortunately, there was not enough of these characters, in essence they were more on the periphery and (that is one thing that I would make as a suggestion - more, more, more of the players and their partners that we now know and love....) but I digress.....

We get to meet Hudson - the new hockey player who was just traded to the Brooklyn Bruisers. We then meet Gavin - the new trainer who just got the job with the Brooklyn Bruisers.

What I loved so much about this story was that there was DEPTH to the storyline. Gavin is a new single father to a young daughter, trying to rebuild his life after the death of his husband. Hudson is the son of a hockey icon - who also happens to be his agent - who has been traded time after time and just wants to find a team to be able to settle down with and begin to put down roots.

Bottom line, I really enjoyed this book and loved the narrating duo of Teddy Hamilton and J.F. Harding. I think this might have been my first experience with Mr. Harding (I'm going to need to go and check that) but Mr. Hamilton is quickly becoming a favorite narrator of mine.

This was a fun and easy read/listen that left me with a satisfied, happy feeling when it was finished. Plus, there were enough seeds dropped during the story that iit looks like there will be many new storylines that can sprout from this.
