A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Timothy Walter Bolton - better known as Timmy - has spent most of his life as a necromancer. When he isn't terrorising his enemies, he's plotting inside his castle, which is built on top of lightless chasms filled with nameless horrors and beings of a generally malevolent and megalomaniacal nature. But after one of his latest creations, a zombie hydra-dragon-bear, tries to eat him, he decides that maybe it's time to find a new, less dangerous, career.

Publisher's summary
Part supernatural spy adventure, part historical romp, The League of Set is the beginning of a new fast-paced GraphicAudio Original series in the ancient world.
Samuel ben Yohanan is a secret agent for the Judean Court in Exile in Babylon. A master of magical relics and ancient gadgetry, he’ll do anything to get his people home (and perhaps to advance his personal ambitions as well). But after he goes rogue to help Cyrus the Great conquer Babylon, the Persians send the reluctant Samuel on a covert mission to Egypt in anticipation of their next invasion.
With Samuel as his partner and Persian minder is Mehrnaz of the Flame, one of the leading magi in King Cyrus’s court. A perceptive and powerful practitioner of magic, she distrusts Samuel from the start. But they must quickly learn to overcome their mutual hostility if they are to survive.
Samuel and Mehrnaz maneuver together through the intrigues of the court of Amasis II, one of Egypt’s last great pharaohs. They solve mythological and occult mysteries while trying to avoid sudden death at the hands of their hidden enemies. Finally, the two agents will battle the magician-assassins of an ancient evil organization in their necropolis stronghold to save both of their peoples from destruction.

A captivating ancient Egypt, Bond-esque book!
From the opening scenes of Agent of Exiles: The League of Set, Tom Doyle’s writing drew me in. He masterfully reveals the different strengths and vulnerabilities of the main characters, Samuel ben Yohanan and his partner in espionage Mehrnaz of the Flame. The scenes in ancient Egypt glow. I love audiobooks—primarily for their ability to transport you through time and space, and drop you smack dab in the middle of another world. This first audiobook is chock full of action. It’s the most captivating book I have listened to since the beginning of the pandemic, and I’m impatiently waiting for the next one in the series. Tom does an exquisite job weaving the interconnections of ancient history, and I enjoyed the journey. It’s clear that Doyle has done intensive research. He summons up concrete factual historical events and blends them with his own mystical mastery of storytelling, and the result is a flourishing display of writing talent. The audiobook fully engaged me in the characters’ human struggle and contradictions and entertained me with intrigue and skillful fight scenes. It’s both a heroic quest to save two cultures from annihilation and a humorous and cozy bedtime read. A must-add to your holiday gift-giving list for self and others!
