Publisher's summary

When Edward Koenig arrives at the lonely coastal town of Pinemist Bay, the only thing on his mind is finding his family. With just a telepathic message from his daughter to guide him, only one thing is clear: His wife and daughter are in mortal danger.

In order to find them, Koenig must place his trust in a few locals and delve headlong into the mysterious past of Pinemist Bay - a past centered around an ancient Scandinavian pagan rite that has all but vanished from the rest of the world.

Beneath its insouciant guise, Pinemist Bay conceals both the hidden truth of Koenig's family's past and the key to an intrinsic bond with his daughter that he never could have imagined. But in order to save her, he must first play cat and mouse with a zealous pagan cult whose only goal is to lure him into the arms of an arcane presence that waits in the shadows of the pine forest.

Fun read!

This is a story of adventure and legend as Kuenig searches for his daughter. The lines between the present and past are blurred as he sets out on a journey that he never expected. The characterization is done well. The story and plot are focused and build in such a way that its hard to stop listening even when there are other things that need to be done. The narrator was amazing. He did a great job changing up hs voice to fit each scene and character.

Atmosphere!

This book has excellent pacing, and elements of mystery, fantasy, and horror that really roped me in. The atmosphere was exquisite, and Arbogast crafted environments
I felt I was living in. The narrator did an excellent job interpreting the story. He’s got a great storyteller’s voice; a little gravelly and with great character portrayal. Between the writing and the narration it didn’t miss a beat!

The last Odinian

This was an excellent story! It was violent and bloody at times but good. Koenig is pulled to a town where his daughter and wife have been kidnapped to. There he finds his past,as well as the future of his line. Mike Carnes was a terrific narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
