Publisher's summary

Through The Family of Jesus, listeners will develop an emotional connection to the family members of Jesus, learning about their lives and falling in love with Scripture along the way. Bible studies and devotionals abound, and in churches everywhere people gather to seek a deeper understanding of God's word and its application to their lives. But too often these studies engage only the analytic approach to Bible learning.

In The Family of Jesus, number-one New York Times best-selling novelist Karen Kingsbury will make you laugh, cry, and ultimately care more deeply about the Bible by helping you grasp the truths in Scripture not just with your mind, but with your heart. The characters in these short stories were among those closest to Jesus - Mary, Joseph, Jesus' brother James, John the Baptist, Zechariah, and Elizabeth. Each has a compelling tale to tell. Kingsbury intersperses fictional, emotionally gripping details anchored in Scripture with historical and theological insights and questions that will guide soul-searching and reflection.

The Family of Jesus not only provides a deeper understanding of the relatives of our Savior, but also helps listeners acquire tools that will draw them closer to Christ, to the Scriptures, and to each other.

a must listen

I love how she turned all of the facts from the Bible and turned it into a story filling in the blanks. The story was being perfect

The Family of Jesus by Karen Kingsbury

The story of Jesus and his family is beautifully told here. It draws me in, as if I was there. I just finished the 1st chapter and I can't wait to listen to the rest of this book!

Refreshingly Different

Our neighborhood has done a woman's Bible Study for almost ten years using the workbook/DVD format. This study was a refreshing change. We found it to be Biblically and historically accurate, but Karen's story that enveloped each member of Jesus' family made them come to life.

Does not exemplify her taient

The book begins with a very sappy account of Mary and Joseph's relationship. Since Mary was believed to be a teenager, they should have used this email reader to do her voice so she didn't sound like an old woman..The mail reader is annoyingly slow. I believed there to be some scriptural inconsistencies, such as the Jewish people referring to God as Father. I don't believe this was a typical reference since they considered Jesus to have blasphemed when he claimed he was the son of God. If the story has been less emotional and more historical I think it would have served the purpose better. And I'm a person who likes emotional accounts in the appropriate places. The premise is good ;I think Karen should rewrite the book!

Short devotionals

I was expecting more of a story line but this instead is very short paragraphs about characters followed by a “feel free to pause this as you answer these questions”! Very elementary thoughts. So don’t expect telling of a story.
