Publisher's summary

Somewhere out there, in the great expanse of space and time, exist the Fabled Islands. Nobody knows how or why they exist, only that it is a strange and special place that operates under laws separate from the universe.

The Fabled Islands are made up of vast floating continents. They vary in size, with some ranging from the surface area of a small planet to a star. If you look at them from afar, you would find that they are placed in a line. Each island is separated by a vast amount of space, so there is only one way to travel from one island to the next: a gateway on the edge of the island.

Each island is governed by strange rules. The only thing they share in common is that the rules are governed by the System. The rules change vastly from one island to the next, so you must quickly adapt.

Tristan was raised on the first island, Fertility Island, and has finally been allowed to become a Brave - a respected profession throughout the islands. Fertility Island is a peaceful island. There are hardly any monsters; the land is fertile and the people kind.

This is the complete opposite of what Tristan wants. Bring on the monsters! Bring on the magical items! I want adventure, loot, and to put my life on the line! Where are the dungeons, caverns, and mountains to be explored? Where is the mythical equipment to be found? The next island? Then to the next island I will go!

His adventure begins now.

This is book 1 of the Fabled Islands series.

Nice!

I am a fan of Cameron Milan, he has two other series that I have checked out and those two are also very cool. I like how the different worlds each have their own gimmicks.

A great book for LitRPG fans

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. I've always been a big fan of litrpgs so I was thrilled when I found this. I didn't know what to expect but i was blown away. The story is very well written and preformed perfectly.

Fun, Adventurous LitRPG Voyage!!

TLDR: I can say the Narrator makes the difference. Great vocal storytelling from Steve Campbell. The characters are interesting and fun. And the world is intriguing. All around great,

For anyone else who has followed Cameron Milan, please note that, in my opinion, this is the best-narrated audiobook he has out at this time. And it really brings life to his rapid style of progression.

Great characters. Loved how the MC is unique and has an enjoyable personality. The other characters are well done and the voice actor really adds flavor to them.

The world created for this series is really unique. One of the islands is very much Greed Island from Hunter X Hunter, but it was fresh enough of a spin to be enjoyable.

Glad I plucked a coin down for this. Don't let the artwork fool you, it's a great ride. Not to say it's bad, but I had a whole other idea on what this story was about.

Fast, fun, and filled with action.

The story is very focused on the main character and his female companion traveling on their fairly bloody adventure with little world building beyond giving enough for window dressing. Zero romantic or sexual content between the two characters, which I actually found a bit refreshing with how heavy it can be in some of these LitRPGs. The main character is terribly OP and can be a bit of a weirdo at times. Skill usage and stats are mostly woven fluidly in the story. Never much relaxation, MC is always jumping headlong into the next obstacle. I wasn't much fond of the narrators choice for the 'system' voice, reading stats and skills, but the rest I thought was very well done.

Overall, it was an easy, enjoyable listen that was a little silly at times.

Fun, Creative, and Interesting

Tristan is a hero who is looking to conquer all of the Fabled islands. Once he gets his chance fun and action ensue.

Cameron Milan does a wonderful job building the world that Tristan and his companion live in. He also does an amazing job of fleshing out the characters as the story unfolds.

Steve Cambell's narration was fluid and fun to listen to. He has a wide variety of voices that he performed well and kept the story engaging as it moved along.

I have to say that after finishing the book I wanted very much to get the next one to see how Tristan continue on his journey.

Good Book/Great Narrator

This was a good book in my opinion and a very good narrator. I felt as though the MC was written very well although at times felt more like a preteen rather than a young adult. For a litRPG genre book I believe the author did a decent job at writing a story that was very easy to imagine.

Great start to an adventure of a lifetime

I enjoyed following along with Tristan as he begins his journey through the islands. I enjoyed how he has a real excitement for adventure and finding out what's next. I loved him meeting up with Sophie and her kind heart. It was awesome following these two through Collection Island and I can't wait to find out what awaits them on Treasure Island.

The gaming worlds of LITRPG strikes again

Welcome to another amazing LITRPG world. This one is set in a series of islands that represent levels of difficulty, they are rife with Easter eggs and secret missions. The companions discover that there is more going on in these islands than one might first understand. There are those called the chosen who are descendants of the original heroes and there are factions of these heroes and they are affecting the islands and their quests. Enjoy this 1st in a new series. Can’t wait for more explorations of these islands. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Pretty good, but needs world building

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This one was just ok. It was clean, so I listened to it with my 10 year old. The overall story line is decent enough, but I would have liked to see a lot more world building and character development. The details are pretty slim in that regard. There was just enough to get by but not enough to feel immersive. As for game mechanics, this one had a very unique approach which I think was a big plus. The narration is pretty good, in my opinion. All in all, both my son and I enjoyed this book. My son loved it, actually, but he's 10 and things like world building and character depth are not things he cares about yet.
