Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be just another routine training exercise. At least, that’s what the captain and crew of the USS John S. McCain believed up until a hypersonic missile hit their ship and sunk her in the icy waters of the South China Sea.

When James Chase left Delta Force over a decade before, he had believed his days of fighting terrorism - both domestic and abroad - were over. As a CID Special Agent assigned to protecting the Secretary of Defense, his days had become almost predictable. Yet now, facing the very real risk of global conflict, he has found himself once more in the middle of the fray. This time, however, the stakes are so much higher.

In this exhilarating sequel to The Delta Mission, Chase finds himself in a frantic race against time to prevent the assassination of the Secretary of Defense even as war starts to unfold between China and the United States.

Can he keep himself and the Secretary of Defense alive long enough to witness the culmination of these mounting hostilities in the Far East, or will the red curtain ultimately fall on him next?

Real world experience, Real world technology.

I love how Mr. Perez incorporates his personal experiences and knowledge of cutting edge military and cyber technology to flesh out a character driven story, and the simple banter between agents while on the job makes it all the more believable. The socio-political conditions described in the story are happening today and is a very viable threat. It is a great read and as far as military thrillers go, its keeping pace with the best of them. If an author's writing can make me have an emotional response to what I'm reading, compelling me to have a connection to the characters and story....its a damn good book. My only issue, and its a minor one, but I don't care for the inflections and cadence of Mr. Slone's reading and it was the only distraction.

Is book 3 out? Where is book 3 !?!?
