Publisher's summary

Who knew sleeping around could save the entire species?

I'm a simple dragon. Give me knowledge, give me research, give me rings for my hoard, and give me athletic men who want to get sweaty between the sheets . . . or anywhere else. Those things make me happy. Other things . . . well, who cares about those?

Turns out, I should have cared. Or at least paid attention. Because I somehow signed up for a scientific study run by a shy, nerdy sorcerer with the body of a god. And the study just happens to be about my favorite form of exercise.

It doesn't take long for me to know I want to do more than science with Rhys. I've never been the kind of dragon to mix feelings with fun, but Rhys could be the one person who meets all my needs, even if he won't wear a ring on every finger.

But when his research becomes more important than any of us could have imagined, our relationship enters a new phase. Now it's up to me to show Rhys how much he's worth . . . both to me and to the future of his species.

Entertaining and Fun

Fabian, the dragon's historian, and Reese, a scientist, are fun and entertaining. I love this series very much. I really enjoy the narration by Joel Leslie.

Lovely

Louisa Masters has a singular talent for gentle storytelling. Her characters are completely her strength, and you not only can relate to them, but also empathize, and just wanna hang out with them.

As always, a stellar voice performance. Just lovely.

Joel Leslie’s Voice is Golden

As always, Louisa Masters delivered a fun and sexy story that I enjoyed immensely. Her world-building is fantastic in its breadth and depth, creating a believability that I truly appreciate. The characters are interesting and developed, and the plot was great. I listened to this audiobook in one sitting and never got bored.

I have to give props to Joel Leslie, whose voice I ADORE. His character voices, his accents, his diction, his pitch, his cadence: everything hits the ear perfectly.

I will continue to seek out books written by Louisa Masters and books narrated by Joel Leslie (and loving all the overlap thereof).

Wonderful

I enjoyed Fabian and Reese’s story. Fabian seems a bit of an air head, but he’s the dragons historian, while Reese is a scientist. I love that Fabian’s hoard is rings, doesn’t matter if they’re a precious metal of costume jewellery, He loves them all.

enjoyed it

📖 Story comment: The characters and plot were entertaining, with a good pace and flow.
What I call an easy listen ... plot wasn't too complicated so could listen while doing something without losing track of the story.

Fabian is such a delightfully inappropriate character with no shame and endless curiosity - makes for some very amusing situations.

🎧 Narrator comment: Joel Leslie is a master voice actor and suits the personalities of these characters. He has good timing, cadence, inflections and intonations, he's kept the consistency of characters voices throughout the multiple series so it's easy to distinguish all the characters from each other and he's done a stellar performance bringing this book to life.

a dragon with ADHD

I absolutely loved this book. Fabian was awesome. A dragon with basically severe ADHD. I Identified with him so much for that as someone with really bad ADHD his train of thought actually made sense to me and forgetting and getting sidetracked mid conversation.

The Dragon Experiment

Le sigh 😌

I absofreakinglutely loved it. I don’t know how Louisa does it but the whole CSG/DEA series is epically awesome. I love each and every book in both series. Every book is an automatic one-click for me.

I highly recommend but you really need to start with Demons Do It Better, trust me that you won’t regret it.

Loved hearing everything brought to life by Joel’s performance.

Dragons- funny, romantic, great plot!

Sincere kudos to Louisa Masters for creating a race that is so uniquely independent from traditional dragons. Her dragons are so funny because of their genuine curiosity, desire to experience EVERYTHING, their bluntness and lack of shame. No subject is off limits for them to inquire about (usually at an inappropriate moment). Fabian is the dragon who enjoys the carnal things of our world so much. In this story, he finds someone that not only lights his s3xual fires, but engages his mind and heart. A seriously fun book from cover to cover. The CSG is looking for a solution to a serious world wide problem that may make magic use extinct, and though the subject itself is terrible and heartbreaking the story is woven with magic, dragons, sorcerers, deep thoughts about a zillion subjects, absurdly funny situations/comments, and excitement throughout. Plus, the CSG members (from the previous series) as well as all the dragons (and Percy) from this series are actively involved in the story. Joel Leslie *sigh* how does he do it? The man has my five star review on every book I own by him (I’m a bit of a hoarder of audiobooks). I put this audiobook on, and can literally see it happen in my head- he makes the story come to life. The people are so distinct from each other, the accents are fabulous, the timing, inflections… every character’s personality shines through Joel Leslie’s fantastic narration.
