Publisher's summary

Domestic diva Sophie Winston is in charge of the sweetest event in Old Town this summer. Amore Chocolates is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a chocolate tasting at the mansion of the company's CEO, Joe Merano, and Sophie is running the show. With cookies, candy, and five kinds of chocolate cake, it's a chocolate lover's dream! But when Joe goes missing, the celebration becomes bittersweet. And when Sophie discovers the body of a competing chocolatier in the guesthouse, the event turns downright deadly.

As if that wasn't enough, Sophie's been receiving daily boxes of sweet treats. After ruling out her new beau and her exes, Sophie wonders if someone's trying to send her a message - and if she's next on a chocoholic's hit list.

Chocolate mystery

Great storyline, loved the twists and turns of suspects and of course the mishaps. Really tantalizing read.

Everyone deserves good chocolate

Every time I read a Diva book it is like my favorite show has a new season! First of all Natasha is a hot mess, she needs an intervention. I love all the chocolate humor, twists and turns, and the great continuing story lines. I love that installment focused on the story line and character development. Some times I want to smack Wolf and that continues in this book, he isn't a jerk just dumb at times. I love the great friendships with all the main characters, and how they all now get involved in solving the murders. I really wish I was Nina and had all these great drink options in my head! She is the bestfriend we all need and deserve in our lives. I liked the twists at the end, this is such a great series.

Fun cozy series- fascinating narrator

What did you like about this audiobook?

The main character and her friends are lots of fun and the stories in the series are welll developed. The narrator is highly talented in using different voices for each of the characters.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

I sure learned learned lots about cooking with chocolate!

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

It’s very crafty how the author includes clues to the mystery as just passing information buried in the stories of the recurring characters. I also enjoy the question and answer portions at the beginning of each chapter. If you listen carefully, you can hear references to the storyline that follow.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

One thing this narrator does drives me nuts! Every time she begins with a phrase such as, “I had to wonder if...” she will pause as if what follows are the actual words as if they were being said aloud. It’s hard to explain and very subtle, but it is the difference between her saying, “I couldn’t help wondering, ‘Was he telling the truth?’” and “I couldn’t help wondering whether he was telling the truth. She reads that second sentence as if it were the first. It’s remarkable how many times this comes up in a story, and it’s annoying every time.

Do you have any additional comments?

One character who bothers me is Sophie’s ex-husband, Mars, who is romantically involved with Natasha. Of course everyone hates Natasha; we’re supposed to! But by the ninth book in the series, these characters have all been friends for years, and Mars will never explain why he stays with Natasha. He is clearly as bothered by her as everyone else; yet every time someone asks him why he stays with her he says -literally- nothing.. It’s also unrealistic that Sophie would consider Natasha a friend when Natasha is truly mean to her again and again.

I LOVE THIS SERIES

This series is my favorite! The mystery is interesting and clean but entertaining; just when you think you have it figured out it takes a turn!

I love these books, they are wonderful!

The characters are so fun, humorous and likeable. The stories are definitely "cozy" with a good mystery. I wish I were one of Sophie's friends enjoying a delicious meal in her cozy kitchen. This is my go to series when I want to listen to something familiar and comfortable. A great read!!

This was a great story line. Plenty of surprises and a great ending. Hoping Sophie can be happy in a relationship.

Not much of a mystery

Plot of this one was weak. Did not enjoy it nearly as much as the others.
