Publisher's summary

In The Artisan Soul, Erwin Raphael McManus, author, thought leader, and founder of MOSAIC in Los Angeles, pens a manifesto for human creativity and the beginning of a new renaissance. McManus not only calls us to reclaim our creative essence but reveals how we can craft our lives into works of art. There are no shortcuts to quality, and McManus celebrates the spiritual process that can help us discover our true selves.

McManus demonstrates that we all carry within us the essence of an artist. We all need to create, to be part of a process that brings to the world something beautiful, good, and true in order to allow our souls to come to life. It's not only the quality of the ingredients we use to build our lives that matter but the care we bring to the process itself. Just like baking artisan bread, it's a process that's crafted over time. And God has something to say about how we craft our lives.

With poignant, inspirational stories and insights from art, life, history, and scripture interspersed throughout, McManus walks listeners through the process of crafting a life of beauty and wonder.

Fantastic! Must read for everyone!

This is a must read, especially for those who do not think they are creative. I have been an art teacher since 1998! I agree with everything Erwin mentions in this book. I have experienced this first hand with the 12,000+ art students I have taught over the years. I also know from personal experience that when I am actively creating art, I am intimately connecting with my Creator, God. There is a depth of creativity that we all have, given to us, by God, because that is who he is...The Most Creative Creator who made us in his image!

Calling humanity to discover our creative purpose

This book awakens the reader to wonder, beauty and imagination through God's eyes. Loved it! It's my second book by Erwin (first was The Last Arrow). I am going to listen more of his books.

My guide to rediscovering god and creativity

I loved the authors voice through this entire book. I felt connected to him, his good humor and joyful outlook. While I often struggle with my personal conversations about god, this book connected spiritually and creativity in a natural, meaning way.
I absolutely recommend this book to readers, especially those looking to reconnect or rekindle their own spirituality.

This silences the internal voice of condemnation.

I’m always grateful when someone steps out in front of the voices of condemnation and starts handing out bread instead of stones. Thank you, Erwin, for being a voice in the darkness, and for challenging me to be brave too. This book, these words, are life.

Beautiful and Brilliant

This book is a masterpiece in it of itself. Erwin is a brilliant thinker who expands our understanding of life and it’s meaning. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer!!

My favorite book from Erwin so far. Everyone should read this.

unveiling of overwhelming essence of creativity

I actually came across this book many years ago when I first heard the author giving a sermon at a church I used to attend and their message has stuck with me over 5 years now. sadly I am just now reading this book but I truly do not think I would have been ready to fully receive it until now. I do consider myself very creative and a Craftsman but this book even pushes me to a further realization that I have only begun to scratch the surface of this Divine creativity that God has blessed me with. I am very grateful to have finally read this book in highly highly recommend it!
