Thought I didn’t need a book to do noth

This book should be required reading for every high strung workaholic like me. I’ve read the top 5 books on burnout and how to do nothing and this one delivers the most clear and tangible system to finally deeply relax. Really glad I didn’t try to do this one my own because: 1. I didn’t realize until I listened to this book that I knew NOTHING about relaxation and well.. doing nothing haha. 2. Chandler takes surprisingly complicated topics and boils them down so simply in ways I never thought of. I use his S.A.D system daily to instantly rid myself of guilt and shame around productivity. But most importantly this book was laugh out loud entertaining! He manages to make the science and ancient philosophy around playing and relaxation something I looked forward to listening to daily. I loved the audio version so much that I bought the paperback copy for myself and a couple close friends. I needed something tangible to highlight and refer back to. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the narrator is AMAZING. I love it when a narrator sounds like a voice actor. Sort of reminded me of the narrator from Harry Potter.

Wow, No wonder lol

God knows I’m not lazy and used to work tirelessly for my goals but I would always find myself exhausted, burnt out with little progress and I never knew why! What would seriously frustrate me the most was my business partner (my husband) who has always took his time, literally do less and would somehow achieve 10x more than me. I would be like seriously??? I get up way earlier than him and am more productive than him, WHY?! But after listening to this audible book, the truth was revealed as to why. This book taught me another way of achieving my dreams and goals that actually feels so much better, much more effective and intentional with presence which paradoxically helped me achieve more in shorter time with little to no effort. After listening to this incredible book, I am now able to gain weight, my hair and skin is healthier, I’m happier, my relationships are better, my communication is more effective and I’m able to provide much more intentional value to others in the world. If you want to wake up and snap out of the struggle of hustle, listen to this book and I promise you you’ll be more effective and happier.

Highly evolved!!

Clear and articulate delivery of detailed advice and observations. Technically, this work is as professional as it gets. The concepts presented here are well researched and make a strong case. From a critical point of view, being organized and stretched just to make the magic 3 hours tends to water down some key points.

Excellent advice!

Every too busy person should read this. Our daily lives are overcome with everything we need to do but giving ourselves time. We need that time. This book lays it all out and ways to give yourself that time even in a busy schedule. The writing style is easy to read and relatable. As with Chandler Kitching's other books it hosts a simple step by step approach that can be done quite easily. A must read if you for the overworked, overwhelmed worker!

A good reminder to take a step back

This book dives into the “forbidden art of doing nothing”, where most people think taking time to step away from the rat race is a sign of weakness or laziness. I definitely resonate with the feeling of burnout that he describes in the forward. I also had a similar experience with reading so many books and listening to podcasts to try and get a handle on how to adjust my mindset, because what I was doing wasn’t working.

This book feels like a really good overview of shifting your mindset, taking the golden nuggets from all the self-help books they have read and creating a buffet of information you can pull from to adapt to your own life. I don’t think doing nothing is meant to be taken so literally, as one might. But, more about taking away things that are not serving you or your goals, becoming aware of your thoughts and ability to analyze and direct them. At the core, thoughts affect behavior and our actions - which is a common theme among most self-help books. This book presents multiple examples to help you wrap your mind around these “heady” concepts so you can choose to live your life with intention - realizing that in fact, you always have the power to choose.

Taking the time to do thought work, not just busy work is important. I still struggle with it, even having consumed a lot of information on personal development over the last 4 years. Everything seems to boil down to habits and thought patterns you focus on. This book is a good reminder to get myself back on track and stop trying to do so much. And, as they point out, you end up doing too much when you don’t know who you are or what you want.

The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the full script reading of the copyright page right at the beginning. But, I enjoyed the forward and the backstory of the author, and the content.

No more burnouts!

Every person that works more than 50 hours a week should take a look at this book for sure. Working hard is fine but taking some time for yourself to relax, is equally important. Especially when you don't want to burn out right away. But we usually don't think about that because we are already on to the next task at hand. I thought I knew how to relax, but after listening to this book, I gained some great knowledge in how to take my 'art of doing nothing' to the next level! The 'not feeling guilty'-part is something I'm still working on, but I have the tools now to get there.

Amazing book!

The title of this book got my attention and I was wondering what it talked about, but was so surprised that the mindset in it was so novel and unique! Sometimes if we don't know what we're busy for, loosening up yourself is also a great way to make you more focused when working.

This book helps me a lot for approaching my goal with fewer efforts. The author knows how to gain extra time during the busy day without losing effectiveness.

Recommended it to those feeling exhausted in their overwhelming lives!
