Publisher's summary

Private security has never been so risky—or so tempting.

Ex-military security specialist Conlan James avoids commitment like the plague. His job, his Harley, and an occasional one-night stand are all he needs—or so he tells himself. But after he rescues Jess from a tense situation, he can’t get the shy, sexy brunette out of his mind. He can teach her self-defense, but can he shield his own scarred heart?

Southern belle Jess Kingston spent eight weeks healing from an ex-boyfriend’s brutal attack. Now she’s ready to put her life back together. Her ex, Brit, has other ideas. She needs someone who can teach her how to fight back—someone like the tough former soldier who rides to her rescue.

As the deadly game of cat and mouse intensifies, the heat between Con and Jess becomes an inferno. He’ll do anything to keep her safe. She’ll do anything to survive. Her vengeful ex is determined to destroy them both, and all it would take is one wrong move.

“Frightening suspense and a beautiful love story.” (Tea and Book)

Quick easy read

A crazy villain that is truly terrifying raised the stakes for Jess and Con, and the narrators did a great job bringing the suspense of the story to life.

You won’t want to put this book down!

The story goes deep. Lots of suspense. The performance, in duet, is the best I’ve heard.

I rather liked this story.

Narration 10 outta 10 as always with these two.
The story itself actually touched base with me immediately as a survivor of domestic violence... obviously what I went through was nothing near what Jess did but still the meaning in the story I identified with very much.
Smut was way weaker than I usually prefer but that was okay because of the story itself.

All the swoons for Conlan & Jess!

Another five-star read from the fabulous Ella Sheridan! She has a way of capturing your attention from the moment you start one of her books. Add in her fantastic narrations and you really can't go wrong.

Conlan James has been such a captivating character in her Southern Nights series that when I found out this was his book I girly screamed. I knew the woman who would captivate his heart had to be one hell of a woman and Jess is. She has been through so much when Con meets her and even before he really knows about her past, he is entranced by her. Not just her beauty but her presence. Except, he doesn't do relationships and he can tell she is a girl for relationships not for one-night stands.

Jess Kingston is still recovering but there is something about Conlan James she can't let go of. She knows if she gets her heart involved, she is going to get hurt but she can't help herself. As Con helps her heal not only mentally but physically the ghosts of her not so distant past start to catch up with her and before she knows it her and Con are put in danger more than once. Jess would rather risk her life than the people she cares about including Con.

Jess's ex must be stopped and Conlan doesn't trust anyone but himself and his team to do it. Will Jess & Con end up losing everything before it ever really began?

Jason Clarke, as Conlan James was my absolute perfection. Do you ever just read about a character and know who should voice him? That was me with Con, the way Jason can get his voice so deep where it sounds like he has been gargling with nails just hits all my sweet and not so sweet spots. Stella Hunter was emotionally captivating. Jess was a force and Stella really brought that to life.

At this point Ella could write me a sonnet on a post it note and I would cherish it forever. Teach Me had everything I love in a good romantic suspense from page turning swoon to a bit of blood and the tiniest bit of murder. Let Conlan James teach you a couple things you won't regret it!!

Intense and Enjoyable!

Teach Me (Southern Nights, Book 1) by: Ella Sheridan is about main characters Conlan and Jess’s story. Their story had me on the edge whole time. Conlan was prepared to guard Jess and he tried his best to keep her safe. Her ex, who was a horrible person, ended up getting what was justified. I think what her ex-boyfriend received in the end should’ve happened sooner. In any case, this was a great book! I will certainly read and listen to more books by this author. The narrators were great! I loved the duet style of this audiobook; Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke did an amazing job bringing this story to life! The story would not have been the same without them. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary of this audiobook from the author.

HOT Southern Nights!

This is the first book in the Southern Nights series, Jess and Conlan's story. Jess is a timid young woman who has come out of a abusive relationship (I would say severely abusive, but abuse is abuse, no matter what kind of bruises you carry). Conlan is an ex-military security guy and a co-owner in JCL Security with Jack. Con has a lot of issues with PTSD, guilt and anger in the death of his other business partner Lee, and a general undeserving attitude. BUT, Jess has caught his eye at their Monday morning coffee shop sightings. Jess's ex, Britt, corners her outside the coffee shop and Con steps in to protect her. The chemistry is crazy hot between them and doesn't let up throughout the story. Jess learns to stand up for herself while Conlan learns he is worth loving. The suspense and stalker tactics were very realistic and believable. The characters were like new friends you just made. And Chapter 21...whew! NSFW!!

The duet narration of Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter is brilliant. The passion they bring to the story really elevates the book for me. I'm such a fan of them both.

Another Strong Story

This is the first story in the Southern Nights trilogy. The duet narration was FANTASTIC and Stella and Jason are like PB and J. If you're a fan of romantic suspense with instalove and white knight elements, then this story is definitely for you. Ella always writes a compelling story and this book was no exception. Conlan rescues Jess from a dangerous situation and then becomes her self-defense teacher. As the threat to Jess becomes more intense, the chemistry between Jess and Conlan is electric and they can't stay away from each other. The relationship is hot and the duet narration just made it even better! I did receive a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Narrators rocked this story!

Trigger Warnings: Physical & Mental Abuse, Abduction, Military PTSD.
Conlin co-owns a company that does security and teaches self-defense. Jess is recovering from injuries inflicted by her abusive ex and decides to take Conlin’s advice to learn self defense after he comes to her aid. The abusive ex just doesn’t quit, however, and escalates to threats via text, phone calls, and then breaking in & trashing her apartment. Conlin is “relationship-phobic” and once he discovers she’s still a virgin, he puts the brakes on hard. Jess knows what she wants, and it’s a no strings fling with Conlin. I don’t give stories away but of course this is a happily ever after kind of story. This romantic suspense is wonderfully narrated in duet by Jason Clarke & Stella Hunter and they really made the stress, emotion, and fear palpable.

Really loved Jess & Conlan

This audiobook was fantastic, performed in duet by Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke. I absolutely love these two together. I just know when they are pair up (especially in duet) it is going to be amazing. They never disappoint. They did a wonderful job of bringing Jess and Conlan to life. And Jason did a phenomenal job of bringing in the creepy factor for Jess’s ex, Brit.

I love this series. It’s a perfect mix of romance and suspense. There is always action, whether that be in behind closed doors or out in the open. You never know what’s around the corner.

Jess was being abused and stalked by her ex-boyfriend. This man is the definition of crazy. Jess decided to learn some things to help keep her safe. But this just made the ex that more crazy. The idea of her moving on really set him off. He had so many people in his pocket and she wasn’t able to get the true help she needed, until Conlan. He gave her more than she ever bargained for.

I loved these two characters. Conlan was very hesitant on finding love because he saw what it did to his best friend. He didn’t want to end up like that. But Jess was a power beyond his control and he just couldn’t fight it forever. Jess was such a strong woman and I loved seeing her take back the control of her life and learn how to fight.
