Publisher's summary

Dandelion Meadows is cursed. Horrible name. Horrible luck.

At 18, she should be headed off to college, all smiles and naivety. Instead, a victim of a school shooting, she’s starting her senior year in a new city and living with her brother. Nightmares of that terrible day haunt her, affecting her daily life and the relationships around her.

Forced to meet with the school counselor, Dani finds him chipping away at the walls she’s built around herself, and even her heart. Lachlan Taylor doesn’t know what to make at first of the broken student he’s tasked with helping. She’s survived a trauma he’s not sure he can save her from, but he knows he has to try.

The more time they spend together, the more they learn about what it really means to live.

Some things are forbidden. Some things are necessary for survival. Their love is both.

Age Gap and Taboo Romance

Really enjoyed this book, worth the credit!

Older male/younger female, teacher/student relationship.

The narrator is better than average.

This Story....WOW

“Sometimes we have to hurt to be reminded that the best things in life bring us joy and pain.”

I didn't know what to expect when I read what this story was about, but it did intrigue me. You hear and see on the news relationships between an educator and student and condemn it. While although it is inappropriate on so many levels this story sheds a slightly different light on how such relationships can happen. I think that where some are of abuse, this story just didn't give me that feeling. Some may think it crazy but I actually really loved this story. It is also about the trauma of living through a school shooting. Ava Erickson is phenomenal!

Really loved it

I loved the story and the performance. It was so detailed, a little too detailed at some points which made it a little lengthy. but overall a great read and a story you can really get into. I easily fell in love with all of the characters and really rooted for forbidden love.

A touching age gap love story

4.5 Stars.
I really enjoyed this one a lot. It was angsty but there was trauma for the heroine to heal from. I also loved her name Dandelion. It was like a flower that was wilting but was slowly cared back to life and it blossomed.
While power differential relationships give me pause, Lachlan didn’t give me the creeps at all. He seemed like a really good guy even though a counselor and I really appreciated his struggle with his feelings. This was a great book to end the year with.

Forbidden romance with heavier themes!

Sweet Dandelion had been on my TBR for a while, I just love the cover and it grabs my attention every time I see it. 😍 This is a forbidden romance between a student and her guidance counselor and also deals with some heavier, emotional topics as well.

Dandelion “Dani” recently moved in with her older brother and is starting a new school, Aspen Lake High. 9 months ago Dani was in a school shooting, she got shot in the leg, but her mother who was a teacher was killed during the shooting. At the new school she has to meet with the guidance counselor, who ends up being Lachlan Taylor. Over time, we see the bond that Dani and Lachlan form, and how he is the one who makes Dani feel safe and comfortable. They end up spending a lot of time outside of school together, when they realize he lives in the same building as her. Because of her time spent in the hospital after the school shooting, Dani is 18 going on 19 when the story starts.

This is definitely a slow burn, angsty read. I liked the growth and healing of Dani’s character in this, especially towards the end once she graduates high school. It was nice to see that time given to her character. This was definitely her story, because of that I felt like we didn’t get to know Lachlan quite as well. We didn’t get his POV which I kind of wanted. Otherwise, definitely a solid story!
