Publisher's summary

Surrender, white people! After 400 years of white supremacy in America, a reckoning is here. Time to listen up, look history in the face, and surrender unjust privilege. These are the terms of peace - and they are unconditional. Hope you have a sense of humor, because this is going to sting.

The legendary activist/comedian and author of the “hilarious yet soul-shaking” (Black Enterprise) best seller How Not to Get Shot returns to address a nation on the edge of civil war.

After centuries of oppressing others, white people are in for a surprise: You’re about to be a minority yourself. Yes, the face of America is getting a lot browner - and a reckoning is coming. Black and brown folk are not going to take a back seat anymore. It’s time to lay down your unjust privileges and sue for peace while the getting’s still good. Lucky for America, D.L. Hughley has a plan.

On the eve of America becoming a majority-minority nation, Hughley warns, the only way for America to move forward peacefully is if whites face their history, put aside all their visions of superiority, and open up their institutions so they benefit everyone in this nation.

But we can still have fun with this, right?

Surrender, White People! hilariously holds America accountable for its wrongs and offers his satirical terms for reparations and reconciliation.

But it’s not all bad news, white folks. The upside is that if you put D.L.’s plan into effect, you can finally get black people to stop talking about oppression, discrimination, and their place in America. That’s something we can get behind.

Bigots Beware!

D.L. Hughley asks us to take a hard look our dodgy American history and then uses his wit to make it a little easier to laugh ourselves. He forces us to look at who we are and how we come by our ideals through the eyes of the black community. It won't be an easy listen for those who try and hide behind their 'traditions' in order to justify their biases. The most important messages are often the ones that are the hardest to hear. But D.L. takes us to task with facts and then tempers it with humor and in the end offers the simplest of solutions. I'll happily sign that treaty. You can keep Kanye, though.

Great Black History

The book was very educational and can help those who chose to turn a blind eye to systemic racism.

A non threatening breakdown of injustice! Sign the treaty!

I recommend this book to everyone who fully understands racism and the impact on America, as well to those convinced that racism does not exist (and all in between).

DL has managed to capture the meat of the negative mark on our society in a conversational and lighthearted tone that invited all to be a part of the conversation.

Have you signed the treaty yet? If yes, congratulations to you. If no, since you won’t pick up your pen, pick this book up and reevaluate your position on this critical issue.
