Gimmicky Plot is excessive on the build up to the reveal
This book is plotted in such a way that the build up to find out what happened at the barbeque takes almost 300 pages to be revealed. Then you must wait another 60ish pages to find out if the person who was in danger, survived. Where was the editor for this author? The first 300ish pages are annoying. Then the book gets really good. This book is 500 pages long. It would have worked if 200ish pages were edited out of that first part. Just too long. Also the actor for the audio book gets a mixed review from me. She’s a bit campy with the Australian accent. Too me it’s like the equivalent of a cockney British accent. Grates on your nerves like Eliza in My Fair Lady before she learns to talk right. I actually really liked her Vid characterization. It was campy but not as grating on my nerves, since it was a break from the Austrailian accent. What she did to vowels in words was annoying .
