Publisher's summary

On board of one of Earth's largest space elevators, where Earth and the cosmos converge, former cop turned gritty detective, Tony Graves, finds himself thrust into a world far beyond the gritty streets he once patrolled. When the space elevator he is on becomes the target of a ruthless terrorist organization, Tony is called upon to unearth the truth and prevent an imminent catastrophe.

Haunted by his own demons and a past that won't let go, Tony dives headfirst into a labyrinth of intrigue and danger. As he unravels the layers of a conspiracy that stretches from Earth to the outer reaches of the solar system, Tony discovers that not only the fate of everyone onboard hangs in the balance, but all of humanity itself.

Teaming up with a brilliant but enigmatic gun for hire and a diverse cast of characters, Tony must navigate the treacherous waters of politics, corporate greed, and interstellar espionage to unravel the terrorists' plan. With time running out and the clock ticking towards a cataclysmic event, Tony Graves must confront his own inner turmoil and summon the courage to face the shadows of his past.

"Stationfall" is a pulse-pounding thriller that seamlessly blends the gritty realism of a noir detective story with the awe-inspiring wonders of space exploration. Will Tony Graves rise to the challenge and save the space elevator, or will he succumb to the forces working against him, allowing darkness to descend upon the cosmos? The answers lie in the stars, and Tony is ready to face the unknown to protect the future of humanity.

Space Detective story

This was your basic detective story moved onto a space elevator. The series will continue on a spaceship and this story is setting the scene and tone of what is coming. A fairly well written story with lots of action and predictable characters. The narration fits the story well but was bland as the old detective stories are. The narration needs editing as there is at least one major mistake that should have been edited as well as a few minor details that were noticeable. Overall a good story that is worth a listen and a good start to the series.

Performance was irritating

The performance felt strained and contrived. The random yelling and forced emphatic enunciation of random words disrupted the flow and were definitely out of place.

The story itself would probably have been more engaging if the performance was less disruptive. I did not finish listening to this.

Space Elevators!

N.B. I received a free copy of this book from freeaudiobookcodes.com. Some of the things in the book were predictable tropes, but it was still very enjoyable. It's nice to see that we survived two world wars in the 21st century and started working together. I love space elevators and a space elevator was one of the primary settings. Not sure how 6 space elevators can cover all the continents, but that's fine. I think the narrator might be Canadian as I kept getting soory instead of sorry throughout.

Not what I expected [Trigger Warning]

What started off as a cute, if somewhat ridiculously silly, sci-fi action story about a terrorist attack on a space elevator took a nosedive about halfway through with a gratuitous and rather awkwardly presented sexual assault that came really close to making this a DNF because the quality of the writing was not good enough to carry it.

I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
