Publisher's summary

In Mahayana temples and practice centers all across the world, the Heart Sutra is recited on a regular basis. Due to the fact that Author is of the opinion that the patriarch who initially compiled the Heart Sutra was not sufficiently skilled with his use of language to capture the intention of the Buddha's teachings, this new translation was created. As a consequence, fundamental misunderstandings of the central tenets of Buddhism have been prevalent for almost two thousand years.

The new translation is provided by Author in The Other Shore, along with commentary that is based on his understanding of the scripture. It is made abundantly obvious what it means to transcend duality and pairs of opposites, such as birth and death, and to touch the ultimate truth and the knowledge of nondiscrimination when the original purpose and understanding of the Buddha are revealed.

Through the process of removing the mystery around the concept of "emptiness," the Heart Sutra is made more approachable and comprehensible. Prior to the publication of The Other Shore, Creator translation and comments on the Heart Sutra, which were titled The Heart of Understanding, sold more than 120,000 copies in a variety of editions. It is widely considered to be one of the most cherished commentaries on this important teaching. This brand-new novel, The Other Shore, has rendered all previous translations obsolete.
