Publisher's summary

Original cast members from the beloved TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, reunite for an all-new adventure about connections that never die—even if you bury them.

A decade has passed since the epic final battle that concluded Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV). The game-changing spell that gave power to all potential Slayers persists. With new Slayers constantly emerging, things are looking grim for the bad guys. Rebellious vampire Spike (James Marsters) is working undercover in Los Angeles with his old pal Clem (James Charles Leary) when he meets feisty, rookie Slayer, Indira (Laya DeLeon Hayes), who wants Spike to be her mentor. Stakes intensify as Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter) emerges from an alternate reality where she alone is the Slayer, and Buffy Summers doesn’t exist. Cordelia enlists Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world…his ex, Drusilla (Juliet Landau). Giles (Anthony Head), Anya (Emma Caulfield Ford), Jonathan (Danny Strong), and Tara (Amber Benson) also return, but through the years and the vastness of the multiverse, not everyone is who they used to be…

Slayers: A Buffyverse Story is written and directed by Amber Benson and Chris Golden, and co-directed by Kc Wayland.

So good!

This audiobook is amazing! Loving the cast, the storyline is great. This will be on repeat for weeks! “I can be the Faith to your Buffy!” “My best friend Spike!”

Great romp!

This was such fun. I loved what they did with the story. Just the right amount of camp. I really hope there’s another one in the works!

Audible - more like this please

I loved the performances and the dynamic audio is so well done. This kind of storytelling was new for me so I got a little lost the first time they did a scene change, but then I caught on. Recommend headphones, particularly for fight scenes as motion is conveyed from one side to the other.

I feel like the group dynamic is so much better than the original show. Much more compassion for the characters that are hurting and none of the toxic dynamics labeled as friendship (after years of therapy, the original frustrates me as much as I love it), but still with the heart and fighting for the good despite the bad. Plus lots of humor :D

By the end of the original show, I didn't much like Willow/Xander/Buffy anymore so personally I don't miss them one bit. This has all my favorite characters plus the new slayer Indira is lovely. Another shot for characters that maybe didn't get the best from the original or like Clem, a character I didn't know I needed more time with. Such a delight.

Story went along great until it stumbled slightly on final approach to the end. It wasn't so much bad as perhaps a difficulty of the medium? How do you "show and not tell" when you have zero visuals... hmmm. I found a couple bits repetitive because there were a few instances where characters had to restate things when a new person entered the scene. Repetition may have also been due to treating aspects of the storytelling like episodes of a TV show you'd have to wait a week to continue. So maybe I only noticed because I listened to it in one sitting instead of coming back one episode at a time. Solid conclusion, but not so final that they couldn't continue this story down the line. *hint hint nudge nudge*

I think this format is a great way to continue beloved franchises without "rebooting" them. Would love to see more in the Buffyverse as well as others (Stargate Atlantis needs a proper series finale for one). THIS is the sort of media dedicated fans want, not the hash that studio execs seem determined to churn out.

The Big Bad is BACK (and it’s So Good)!

*Spoilers Ahead* I went into this recording with high expectations after seeing the cast and creators at New York Comic Con, and it did not disappoint. I was hesitant about Cordelia taking the lead as the sole slayer from an alternate universe, and I thought I would miss Willow, Buffy and Xander, but the story was really well done and I absolutely adored Indira as the new bright eyed and bushy tailed protege. This new story captured the same magic as the series as well as the heart. I was especially touched by Cordelia and Indira’s sisterly bond and their final scene together as well as Spike and Dru’s reunion, with all its twists and turns and wonderful wickedness. Thank you to everyone who made this project possible. You’ve brought the Buffyverse magic back in a big way, and I love you for it!

Don't make us wait another 20 years!

Finally justice for Cordelia. Every character, even those from a different reality maintained a the core of who they were in both series. I could go on for days about each character and every callback to the OG series but it would be too long. Plus the new characters fit right in. I need more!

The best feels

It gave me all the happy feelings of being immersed in the buffyverse, even though it was different in format and realities, and so many years later. I didn’t realize how much I missed all these characters. It felt like home.

The Buffyverse has Arrived

Slayers was a fun listen. It was great to hear Spike, Giles, Cordelia, Anya, Giles and even Drucilla. Add Indira, a new young slayer, and you have an adventure that crosses different universes. The story was a little over the top in places, but all in all it was very good. It was great to hear the old gang taking care of business. I'm hoping there will be more stories from this group. Great Job!

what the heck????

I loved it. It's a little back and forth but it's a great story. I thought it would have been or had a final resolution but the cliffhanger at the end where Dru got away and everyone decides to stay in Cordys reality to go after her was unexpected.I also like the fact that Giles keeps trying to retire and he always gets pulled back in for the greater good. I definitely hope there's another storyline in the works.
