Publisher's summary

A sacrifice made. A Primordial defeated. The hard part starts now.

Felix had risked everything to stop the threat of the Unending Maw. Except instead of death, he and his Companion Pit were transported to the deadly Void, a place far worse than the Foglands. The Maw is there with them, bonded somehow to Felix in a way none of them understand, but all of them hate.

The three must navigate the desolate expanse of the dark Void, contending with voidbeasts, marauders, and the creeping influence of the Maw itself. It will take everything that Felix has—and more—merely to survive, let alone escape.

All choices have consequences.

Half the size of the last

Really enjoy the story, just disappointed he made this book half the size of the other. It was almost short enough that I give up on a series if it’s not long enough.

Good Second Book

Book 1 had a lot going on, and it felt like a great adventure that could have ended there. Book 2, while long enough, felt like a side quest; One in which the MC could over power any problem with grit and determination of will. I would have enjoyed reading about how the MC goes around, above, or below a wall rather than through it each time.

Interesting and and enjoyable

I gave this a 5 star but I’d say it was more like a 4.5. It was interesting but towards the 2nd half it became less “believable “ because the mechanics of the world were not strictly adhered to. Like he just fights endlessly and never fully tires type. It was interesting and I enjoyed it but it needs some polishing in my opinion. Travis Baldree is phenomenal as always.

Bit of a Detour

Book 2 is much shorter and almost entirely takes place within the void. The setting grows a bit dour, but the relationship with Bateo (sp?) is a nice touch. While it’s not bad by any means, the MC being handicapped the whole time is a common book 2 tactic in litrpg that I find tiresome. Also the complete removal of all book 1 characters from our MC’s journey after he just met them feels like a robbery. All in all though, still a good story and tempers the MC quite a bit. Travis Baldtree’s performance is again spectacular. Looking forward to book 3 and the MC rejoining the world and characters from book 1.

Splitting stories ruins the flow.

Switching back and forth between the main character and his amazing adventure and ridiculous situation, then without warning, we following some low standing member of some order as he plays detective. Its boring. Hoping the next book is more mc focused.

Fun Story, Nice Worldbuilding, Just the Right Length

A lot of the usual issues you run into in a second of a series was avoided here with a concise fun story. Looking forward to #3

Solid development

I thought this built on the first book in a meaningful way, but the entertainment was somewhat diminished. Perhaps too many new elements were added, resulting in an ebb in the satisfying action of the first book. That said I am excited to find out where things go in the third installment!

was needed and is the right length

I liked the book and thought it was well done with the POV shifts the length was perfect.

Genuinely suspenseful.

First and most importantly, there is not a single "if he did say so himself" in this entire novel. That said, even though all the stuff in the void felt a little tedious, and I spent that whole time waiting for Felix to figure out how to get back—I was never actually bored.

The book also sometimes cuts to the Continent to follow the other members of the party we met in book 1, and the continued world building and character development there is very solid—and by LitRPG standards, superlative. This book was written with thought and care,
