Publisher's summary

Survive, grow stronger, and get revenge. All in a new world.

Seth loved his life on Earth. He graduated from his dream college, worked at his dream job, and married his dream girl. Unfortunately, it was all taken away from him when he woke up alone in a dark cavern prowling with dangerous monsters.

Armed with only a small dagger of mysterious origin, he has no choice but to fight through this web of death and darkness to get to safety. But with both his rare abyssal magic and his desire to return home, he will survive this nightmare by any means necessary, and get revenge on those who ripped him away from his dream life, even if it meant fighting through hordes of giant lizards, groups of terrible bandits, and whatever other person or monster that got in his way.

Pretty great

I really enjoyed this, the MC really has it hard through your and his trials lead him to become pretty powerful. Although I hate it when the author names a series like this.. I mean come on, how about “The Abyssal Assassin” sounds way better. Outside of that it was great and the performance was really well done aswell

great new series. bring me book 2

this was a very well done book. I feel like there was almost two different books in one. it was fast paced. it has lots of action and some mystery. the fight scenes were well written with lots of close calls and drama. the narration was excellent and I can't wait for book 2.

Abyssal assassin strikes

Still new to the series, but it actually gets my attention step-by-step. You wonder what it’s gonna do in his next adventure hopefully, everything goes well, I hope gets to go back to his home.

Delightful

This one had me from the start. I found myself zoning out while at work while enjoying the immersive story. Great worldbuilding, fantastic character, and an awesome story.

What in the abyss?

Waking up in monster infested caves is definitely NOT on my bucket list.
But Seth seems to have some sort of god level luck with him.
Will the monsters kill him before the loneliness and despair do?
Awesome story!
I'm giving this book 8 out of 5 stars.

Hero complex, too much introspection, plot armor

This book is all over the place. The narrator was great. Overall concept is sound. But the author puts too much emphasis on “close calls” to make it riveting and it ends up falling flat. In fights where he’s underleveled, plot armor saves the day. But in fights where he’s overleveled, somehow the enemy makes it a close fight. There’s also a lot of standing around when stuff is happening. Like seeing an ominous portal or large boss the just stand there and stare waiting for it to power up before moving. It’s frustrating for someone who listens to a lot of litrpg. It makes the MC seem like an idiot. Also it says assassin in title but as soon as he becomes an assassin there’s not much assassining going on. Just fighting head on instead of utilizing the tool kit. The fights are boring and I find myself skipping it, not because of lack of action, but because of the way levels and stats become meaningless. Somehow some way it’s gonna be a close fight everytime.

And lastly, the amount of times someone is about the get “killed” so they “close their eyes and await death….when nothing happens” with a last minute save. Sheesh it’s happened so many times it seems like that’s all the author really likes. It’s really boring. Not even interested in book 2. Shouldn’t have used the credit but couldn’t return it. The other reviews are bots

not a good start

this is a book that I wish I could like but simply can't because of how badly written it is. first the prose is simplistic to the point where I question if this book was written by a non English speaker on a deadline.worst than that it's obvious that the book hasn't seen an Editor or proofreader because the grammatical errors are constant and obvious. the author uses words that they themselves don't know the definition of and it's glaring. finally, the worst sin is that the book is BORING. No interesting twists, no MC with any sense of a personality, no unique skills or interesting enem

To much over the top.

This whole story was greatly exaggerated every point in the book. Every major fight has the main character almost dies and closes his eyes, waiting for death when something happens, and he survives. With me
something like, “Seth awaited death”. Plus, he seems to make a lot of stupid decisions and only survives because of an “act of the author”. The overall plot line is the same as over dozen other novel series out there with very little innovation, except in the writing style being overly flamboyant.
