First up is “Hello, Neighbor!”. This middle-aged spanking romance tells the story of Jennifer Melrose and Kevin Mannington, both age 51.

Jennifer and Kevin meet over a row of shrubs that separates their backyards in a Cincinnati suburb.
New to the neighborhood, Kevin is an attorney who migrated from New York. Jennifer, on the other hand, has lived in the neighborhood for several years, working from home as a very successful commercial artist.

Both sensing a mutual and immediate attraction, they sit down over a cup of coffee, and soon begin dating.
One of the things that Kevin appreciates most about Jennifer is her sense of humor. And one day that mischievous part of her brings her to make a teasing comment that she is lucky that she is too old to be spanked. Kevin good-naturedly disagrees, and the two of them discover that even in middle age, some surprising and delightful antics can bring about a very rewarding and lasting relationship.


Next up is a story of young love. In “Such A Pair”, the 18-year-old Kathy Beltran has recently graduated from high school in her small southern Ohio town. Without any firm plans for the future, she has taken a job working in the paint store. Still living with her parents, Kathy seems to be unable to avoid conflicts with her mother.

That problem is not lost on Mike Foster, a mature and responsible young man who begins to date Kathy. As attracted as he is to her, he makes it clear that the relationship cannot develop further unless she gets her attitude straight.

It turns out that Mike has a definite suggestion for how that goal can be accomplished. Kathy agrees to give his idea a try, regardless of the discomfort she feels in the process.



The third story in the collection is titled “Barely Holding On”, a more serious story than is usually written by the author in recent years.

In this story, two very divergent lives meet by chance in the city of Columbus, Ohio. The 20-year-old Betsy Malone is working in a tavern in the downtown of the city, a tavern that is frequented by a rather affluent clientele, and that includes the young investment specialist by the name of Doug Carlson.

To the shock of his coworkers who regularly frequent the upscale tavern, Doug is hopelessly attracted to the comely young redhead, regardless of the fact that her life has been chaotic, bouncing from one short-term job to the next.

A turn of circumstances brings the two of them together for a night, and Betsy discloses to Doug her frustrations, as well as a suggestion as to how he could help her straighten out her life. It was certainly not something that he would have expected to be asked to do for anyone, but he cares for the troubled young woman, and agrees to help her gain a sense of discipline.
