Publisher's summary

Keegan:

Sightseeing, gay bars...and if I'm lucky, maybe a couple of random hookups. That's the extent of my plans when I sign up for a European vacay with my buddies. I've never heard of this Parlaisa country - but hey - a cheap flight and two-star hotel are perfect for a poor college kid, right? And the trip turns out to be even better than I could have possibly imagined when I end up in a bar with some sexy masked guy's tongue down my throat.

And damn...what a tongue.

Even with his face partially obscured, Sexy Masked Guy can't hide those hypnotic steel blue eyes, his chiseled jawline, or the gun show he's working with under that tight T-shirt. But after our kiss, he proves to be nothing more than a cocky, dismissive a-hole. As if that isn't bad enough, flash forward - after one hell of a misunderstanding, I'm arrested by the Parlaisan royal guard and taken to a dungeon, where I learn that Sexy Masked Guy is actually Sexy Prince.

Prince Owen Hawthorne III.

Yes, I was kissing the Prince of Parlaisa!

Even worse, pics of us kissing are posted on the notorious Prince Watch blog. Prince Owen III has been unmasked by the paps, and we've both been outed. And here I had been planning to finally tell my family about my inclinations towards rainbows, glitter, and c--k as soon as I got back home to Fever Falls.

Seems like my vacation can't get any wackier, but now, Prince Owen needs a favor - a fake relationship favor. All I have to do is pretend to be his boyfriend for a good cause and some cash that I could really use right about now. But do I really want to team up with a guy who's been nothing but a prick to me in the short time that I've known him?

Of course, before I know it, I'm in too deep. Fortunately, Owen's strict "no messing around" rule will keep this from getting out of control.

Even though I can't stop thinking about how he knew exactly what he was doing with his tongue.

Even though he loves watching me prance around in my underwear.

Even though he can't get enough of me on my knees, doing what I do best.

Dammit - did we already screw this up?

Talk about a #RoyalProblem.

#Royal is part of the Fever Falls series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Good Story, ok narration

I enjoyed all the books by this author and even though this story is a bit different from his other books, I liked it. I got a bit confused with the beginning scene, but it got much better right after. I liked all the characters, Prince Owen and Keegan were both funny and sincere, it was fun to follow their interactions and feelings growing for each other. Narrator did an ok job with the story, but I did not like the voice he gave Prince Owen. He sounded too full of himself and stuck up, I figured it was fitting the story in the early chapters, but as I got to like his character more and more, I wanted his voice to be less standoffish. Overall it was a good story and I am looking forward to other books in this series.

Great!

Loved this latest book from Devon McCormack and narrated by Michael Pauley! I love the prince/commoner trope and was happy to see that McCormack did it right! I think I missed one of the previous books in the series so I was a little behind on who some of the secondary characters were but it didn't detract from the book and stands alone fairly well. Michael Pauley does a great job with narrating this one!

Overshadowed

I’m typically a sucker for this trope, but this took me a while to get into. I felt myself being more interested In Casey and Steve’s story than the main characters.

Owen & Keegan!

Love this story and this couple! I really enjoyed watching their relationship blossom from just a convenient arrangement to so much more. You can feel their connection and their chemistry is incredible! One of my favorite things is how they really talk to one another and get to know each other like no one else knows them. Love the narrator! His voices are spectacular especially his accent for Owen. I need to go back and get the other audiobooks in this series and start listening! I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

Sweet Prince

I love this series and I love this couple. We got a glimpse of Keegan in the last book. And I loved his character, and now getting to know him I love him. He's starting to find out who he is in this world and what he likes. But he didn't know what he would be getting himself into when he saw a guy on his vacation who he thought was hot. Who knew getting thrown in a dungeon would end to finding his prince, literally. Watching him and Owen fall for each other was a treat. They both deserved it, after everything they both have been through. I can't wait to see what else is waiting for us in Fever Falls.

And they lived happily ever after

First of all, although this book is the 4th in the series, this book can perfectly standalone. I have no problem at all following the story line and characters of the story. 😁

Keegan is a young, innocent college guy who was on a vacation on a tiny island nation (fictional) in Europe. He’s thinking about coming out of the closet and enjoying the freedom of being out and proud on his vacation. And while he was in a bar with his friends, he met the most handsome and seductive man he’s ever met in his life. That was the hottest kiss he’s ever shared and he thought he’s the luckiest guy on this planet. And everything went south so quickly. Suddenly he was being tased, arrested and being thrown into a cold, damp dungeon. And the man he shared a passionate and scorching kiss with? It was Prince Owen Hawthorne III of Palaisa. Is it a Disney fairytale or a Grim brothers edition one for Keegan?

This book is cute and charming with some amount of angst. The relationship between Keegan and Owen started out as a convenient arrangement but blossomed into something much more shortly. I loved the sexy times between Keegan and Owen. And GFY is a bonus. 😁 I was frustrated with Owen at some chapters for how he acted towards Keegan. I mean the man can be such a spoiled brat sometimes. But it ended well because I loved the ending for those two. I usually love Michel Pauley to death but I have some issues with his performance in this one. First, I didn’t like his voice for Owen’s stepmother/ governess. It sounded more like the wicked stepmother of Snow White. 😂 Also the way he pronounced some words as Owen, like “issue” .. he added some “y” sound in “issue” and I have no idea why! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Anyhow, those are the small bumps. I still enjoyed this charming royal romance. 😌

Good Read

I received an ARC of this audio for my honest review. This is my first book by Devon and the first one in this series. I really enjoyed listening to this story and can't wait to read/listen to more books by Devon. Keegan goes on a trip with friends to a kingdom and when they go to a club he meets Owen. Owen thinks that Devon is going to out him since he saw him without his mask on. I liked Owen’s straight forwardness and how he was upfront about his feelings towards Keegan. This is a must read.

Keegan goes Royal!

It's always a pleasure to be back in Fever Falls. This time we get to see Keegan, 19-years-old brother of Jace (from Burn), falling in love with Prince Owen (brother to the King of the imaginary European kingdom of Parlaisa). There's a fake relationship to start with, but as the two men with battered souls get closer and closer to each other, keeping it fake won't be an option.
All the steam you would expect from Devon Mccormack, narrated by Michael Pauley, make this audiobook not exactly Safe for Work...

Loved It!

What's better than a real life fairytale? That's what Keegan will figure out while falling in love with his very own prince! #Royal is such a fun, sexy read that is also full of heart.

I loved the dynamics between Keeg and Owen. Even though there are so many differences between these two, they have much more in common than you would think. Each has suffered personal pain in the past and struggled in life.

I just fell in love with Keegan. He may be young but has a strong sense of self and his own strength and worth. Owen is captivated by the energy, joy and support he finds with Keeg. Watching these two grow from having fun to being fully in love was wonderful!
Michael Pauley does an outstanding job of giving voice to these amazing characters.

Back to Fever Falls

Can I just say how much I love Michael Pauley? Well, I do. I have a number of narrators whom I adore and Michael is one of them. Every book he narrates is a joy to listen to, no matter the story. But when the book is good as well? Kind of magic.

So now that I’ve fan-girled on Michael, I have to share some love for Devon McCormack. He and Riley Hart have created the world of Fever Falls and I’m loving it. This book is a continuation of the series. I’ve listened to all of the books and enjoyed them all. This one was no exception.

I met Keegan in book two and although he was young, he was definitely memorable. As Jace’s younger brother, he held his own and I was surprised when he formed an unlikely friendship with Serena who was Jace’s boyfriend’s mother. Confused? Well, let’s just say she’s older. But she has a young soul and Keegan has a warm heart.

In this book he finds himself traveling around Europe with two buddies. On a whim they decide to visit Parlaisa. There’s a festival going on and they guys jump in, putting on costumes and everything. At a bar later, Keegan sees the most amazingly beautiful man. And they kiss. A hot kiss. Turns out the guy’s a prince and that leads to a whole new set of complicated circumstances. Something about a lost princess, marriage equality rallies, being tased, and a dungeon. Once things are sorted, Keegan finds himself as the ‘fake’ boyfriend of the prince. Since he isn’t even out back home, it’s a bit much, but he’s willing. He tells himself he’s doing it for the right reasons. The fact he’s attracted to the prince doesn’t matter much because it’s all for show.

For Prince Owen, the stakes are much higher. He never saw himself as gay but when the opportunity arises to spend more time with the beguiling American, he’s all in. Maybe he’s bi? Whatever label applies, he’s granted more time with Keegan and he takes full advantage. Back in Fever Falls, away from the hoopla of palace life, the men are able to get to know each other better. There is a substantial age gap – Keegan is all of nineteen while the prince is in his early thirties. And miles of difference in experience as well. Keegan has been somewhat sheltered while Owen’s life has been spread across the newspapers for most of his life.

I did like that Prince Owen was a beginner when it came to dating men. It put him on a more even playing field with Keegan and the age gap wasn’t as big of a deal. Maybe it was just me, but I wasn’t always convinced the men really cared for each other. In the end they seemed happy so I guess it wasn’t an issue.

There was a lot going on in this book – from drag queens, to Autumn Festivals, coming out parties to King visits. I could see how the men were overwhelmed and why Owen believed it would be too much for Keegan to handle royal life. Keegan was strong, though, fighting for what he wanted. And, in the end, he got it.

I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series and can’t wait for the next one. And since I’m quite sure it’ll be narrated by Michael Pauley, I know I’ll love it as well.
