In quello stesso 1875, il giovane prende la definitiva decisione di rinunciare alla letteratura, trasformandosi, per dirla con Mallarmé, in “qualcuno che era stato lui, ma che non lo era più, in nessun modo”.
Edgardo Franzosini evoca quei giorni con raffinata dovizia di particolari, ricostruendo come un investigatore tenace e sapiente il soggiorno di Rimbaud attraverso le tracce lievi e suggestive lasciate dal poeta nella Milano dell’epoca.
