A very smoothy written book.

I would rate the overall book a 4.5-4.7. You can tell this author is every experienced in this style. It’s a very smooth book and the story just perfectly.
Cons
*Needs more curveballs and twist
*The narrator sounds like Kermit the frog at times (the 80 year old queen for example)
* narrator needs more vigor, especially when in the battle scenes. Narrator would literally whisper “charge.”
*need more emotional connections with characters. When someone gets knighted, killed, injured etc.. I should feel something. We lost 3 warriors during battle is a missed opportunity.
This is just my opinion but a very good read and would recommend.

Another adventure in learning

Ok, so nothing against history books, which are generally good, but with Griff Hosker (and others), you can spend $10 for ~ 10 hours of historical fiction and get learning/action/adventure that’s well written and entertaining to boot. The Border Knight series is just that, as we learn the politics and tensions that must be leading up to the barons forcing King John’s hand via the Magna Carta. Well done. And I like that the good guys win. I don’t need all kinds of angst and drama to enjoy a story. Just rollick along, throw in good battle scenes, add history and I’m good to go. Definitely recommend.
