Publisher's summary

Perhaps you can recall a time when you felt more alive than at any other moment — when you had a sudden recognition of beauty, a feeling of deep contentment, and a sense of connection with life greater than you had ever thought possible. And then, this fleeting moment was gone.

What if you could recapture that remarkable opening, and make it a consistent way of living in the world? Throughout Europe and North America, a man named Eckhart Tolle has emerged as a teacher with the unique ability to draw us into the awakened state he calls "presence." With Realizing the Power of Now: An In-Depth Retreat with Eckhart Tolle, you have an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the timeless dimension — a place within us that always is and ever will be beyond the turmoil of life, a world of calm beyond words, of joy that has no opposite.

A walk in nature. A personal crisis. A moment of laughter. These can all serve as portals that take us to the depth and wonder of the Now. But how do we access these portals so that we dwell in presence more and more often? With Tolle's guidance, you will discover many simple ways to leave behind the chaos and suffering of the mind-made world, and enter this state of serenity and grace. Tolle will show you how to go beyond the endless stream of thoughts, and simply allow whatever is happening to occur...use sense perceptions and your "inner body" to find a peace that exists independent of conditions...see past "the little me and my story" and find your home in the "living Now."

Another Gift From Eckhart Tolle

Yes, I am a follower of Eckhart Tolle’s writings which essentially explain how our thoughts work and why it’s important to go beyond thought. He is extremely knowledgeable about all the Great Religions as well as the many forms of spiritual practices that can lead us into a place of awakening as well as a place of peace and inner joy.
His workshops are a special gift to all because he guides us through different meditations in an easygoing, loving format. Can’t quiet your mind? Prone to anger or perhaps you are worried or feeling isolated? Then listen to this. Then listen again. I promise you that his knowledge, simplicity, warmth, and humor will have a beneficial effect. And as you start to hear what’s behind his words, you will expand yourself and discover snippet by snippet the Power of Now.

Soothing and Centering Retreat (Audiobook)

I really enjoyed this audiobook, more so than the Power of Now book on which it is based. This goes much more into depth on how to live the principles put forth in PoN. Eckhart Tolle's soothing voice makes this an easy listen and well worth the credit spent on it.
The retreat setting means that the audio is not as crisp and clear as PoN, so if you are picky about that, that may take off 1/2 star for you. But the wonderful information presented makes it worth the listen, even if you have to listen closely to Mr. Tolle's gentle voice.
I listened to it in a night. It is so soothing that you can fall asleep to it, and then wake up and start where you left off. This is full of centering information and will change your relationship with material objects, linear time, and life in general. Five stars overall.

Tolle is best in this improvisational format

I enjoyed this book very much. It lacks the structure of The Power of Now but it's clear that Tolle is most powerful in an improvisational format.

One could say it's full of long pauses and rambling, but that would be both true and misleading. Tolle begins by explaining the importance of pauses in the lessons ahead and I found them to be very effective reminder to practice no-thought. His "ramblings" are relevant and well formed. Always tied back to the original question or theme neatly.

Some "new" material. Some new ways of explaining material from PoN. 2 reused anecdotes. :) Definitely worth your attention.

I highly recommend this book and strongly advise you to read The Power of Now as a prerequisite.

A must for Tolle readers...

Ahhhh to be a fly on the wall during an Eckhart lecture. This seven hour presentation takes highlights from a week long retreat. Unlike an audiobook, this unscripted slice of life and lessons to learn captures Tolle at his best -- unrehersed and in front of a live audience. His subtle humor is not lost among the participants and we can picture the serene smile on his face as he takes us deeper into the present moment. Enjoy.

Excellent for those who enjoyed

I enjoy the teachings of Eckhart Tolle. In this book he give further understanding in living in the Now. He uses humor and everyday examples. A book for the "common man". I especially like the presentation which is that he is talking to the listener rather than reading the words of a book. One of my favorites!

Wish I was There

Yes, he does have a strange laugh and there are a lot of pauses. But If you can get past the superficial small stuff, the big stuff is sooo worth the time listening to. He is a superb teacher and there are a lot of solid nuggets of gold to get out of his lessons. If you have the patience, the rewards are bountiful.
