Publisher's summary

His Holiness, the Dalai Lama: In Raging Fire of Love, Dr. Kelly James Clark delves into the teachings of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and concludes that kindness and compassion lie at the heart of them all.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu (1931-2021): I am grateful for Clarks informative and inspirational call to the children of Abraham, to all of Gods children really, to resist our divisive fears and to bravely and hopefully persist in love.

As I was writing this book on Muslim, Christian and Jewish love, I learned that I am writing about how I learned about love of neighbor and even enemy. When I'm writing about compassion in the Abrahamic traditions, I am writing about what I have learned, first and foremost, from Christians (my spiritual home), second, Jews, and third, Muslims. This is a story about me and my friends—Kirk, Jim, Nancy, Mary Ann and Ted; Aaron, Silvia, Samuel, Shira and Shlomit; and Abdullah, Ghazala, Asif, Zahabia and Mohammed. It is also a story about me, a philosopher with a deep interest in religion and peace, and my encounters with the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, and the Quran.

My heart is so full-lovely book

This book has been a guiding light on my spiritual journey. The book explores the concept of love in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, a topic I've always been curious and passionate about.

What truly struck a chord with me was Clark's personal storytelling. He shares genuine encounters with friends from each faith, making the book feel like a warm conversation. It wasn't just religious theory; it was about putting love into action across traditions.

The stories of Clark's friends – like Kirk, Jim, Aaron, and Abdullah – were particularly inspiring. Their experiences highlighted the shared value of loving your neighbor, even those you might disagree with.

As a Christian, Clark's emphasis on learning from other faiths resonated deeply. It wasn't about abandoning my own beliefs, but rather expanding them through understanding. This book has truly ignited a spark within me – a spark of understanding, compassion, and a desire to connect with people of different backgrounds.

This book has become a cherished companion on my spiritual path. It's a must-read for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of love as a unifying force across faiths.
