Publisher's summary

It's summertime for supervillains!

Or maybe not, because for Penelope Akk, there is still one foe she has yet to defeat: her own reputation as Bad Penny. It's been a fun ride: fighting adult heroes, going to space, and inspiring the rest of her school to open up about their own powers.

Sooner or later, that ride has to end, and with school out of the way Penny is hatching a mad scheme to end it on her own terms. Will that go smoothly? Of course not. Penny's left too many unsolved problems behind her already, like ghosts, seriously crazy friends, and angry little girls from Jupiter.

One by one, they'll have to be dealt with before she can do battle with herself. She'd better hurry, because her parents are closing in. Whether she confesses or not, this time they will find out her secret.

No BB what is you doin?

Such a cliffhanger. most of the books end on a more or less wrapped feeling. This one left me dying for more.

Some great plot twists, some expected and some not.

Narration is top not as always.

Some review complaints I saw are that the series is never good as the first boom. I would say the opposite. This book brought back a lot of what I loved in the first one. Eagerly awaiting the next!

builds and twists brilliantly

I love this series. it continually builds and evolves.

Penny's best laid plans get away from her. the story progresses slowly but builds up steam and unleashes chaos as only the most powerful mad scientist mind can.

no penny dont do it!!

Penny Ackk is finishing her last year of middle school. With summer coming soon, she is learning more about the hero world, dealing with high school, relationships, helping those in need, and coping with her teenage super villain persona of Bad Penny. She is able to close many open problems that Bad Penny created, but will her final plan be her last?
I enjoyed the book. It expanded this universe and explored more possibilities. Some parts were slow, but then picked up where I had to finish chapters quickly. At the end, all I could say was "NO Penny. Dont do it!!"

Much Malicious Merriment

Another wonderful book. My son and I continue to listen together to the tales that Richard Robert weaves. Emily Woo Zeller should not be counted out here. She brings every character to life and really makes you feel for them. Fun listen for the whole family! “AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY”

Best of the series? Close. But man, that ending!

I won’t spoil the ending, don’t worry. Just know that I was listening with rapt attention to the very. Last. Word.

This book might be the best in the series since the first. Now, I’ve loved almost every book in this series, and liked all of them.

The book starts with Penny’s parents giving her more of a taste of the super hero life; the exciting parts and the boring parts. That leads her into an encounter with a hero unlike any she’s faced. It also marks the return of some very welcome faces.

From there, the story goes along multiple tracks, following the Roberts’s standard formula of one story closing half way through the book and then a bigger one toward the end.

I don’t want to give any details away, but I stick to my assessment that this may be the best book since the first, with the first getting the nod only because it has a certain sense of discovery that this one—and every book after the first—almost necessarily lacks.

As usual, Emily Woo Zeller is wonderful in this. She was an astounding choice of reader, and remains so.

Great listen and superb story

The story is enjoyable and quite fun to listen to, the narration is engaging and I recommend this book to anyone who liked the first book of this series!
There is a lot going on here and we have great resolutions to questions we've had since the second book!
Only sad part is that I now have to wait for the next book to come and get what I am sure will be an awesome ending to a rich and lavishly fun story line!
