This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... Perfect for the Western seeker, imo. The material is not new but the delivery is. Mr Carse has a way of explaining the unexplainable, more clearly than any I've read, if that makes sense. I've always cherished Nisargadatta, Maharshi, et al. So does Mr Carse, apparently.

One of the best
This is a really great book. A masterpiece, actually, in my opinion. I have listened to it at least 4 times now and get something new out of it every time. There are so many great analogies and stories that point to the Truth. The book is also packed with advice for the spiritual seeker and the pitfalls that one can fall into. Terence Stamp also does a wonderful job narrating the material. If you want to seriously raise your consciousness or actually wake up, then this is the book for you.
