“Must be slim, able to stand for long periods of time, and be impervious to the cold.” The headline caught my attention. “Hours are negotiable, pay is minimal, clothing absolutely forbidden.” The second line piqued my curiosity. “Able to hold your bladder and tongue, refrain from opinions or suggestions, and be the perfect living canvas.” The third made me scowl. I should’ve kept scrolling past the advertisement. I should’ve applied for the boring receptionist job at minimum wage. I should’ve clicked on any other job where I got to keep my clothes on. But I didn’t.

I should’ve kept scrolling past the advertisement. I should’ve applied for the boring receptionist job at minimum wage. I should’ve clicked on any other job where I got to keep my clothes on. I didn't enjoy the male narrator at all. I appreciate that the author didn't get too graphic with Pim's abuse. This book was definitely dark even without that.

In Love
I love this series, I have actually read the books, and just couldn't help myself from purchasing the audio books as well. Elder and Pim have a very different relationship as others have had in a couple of other series from Pepper Winters. The thoughts and communication between the pair makes the book stand out from many others and yet pulls you in further as their one sided verbal communication continues. I can not wait to continue listening and the narrators capture the true feel of this series.
P.S. this is one of the easiest ways to refresh your memory before the next book comes out!

Heart-breaking
Thought-provoking. Heart-breaking. Profound. Gut-wrenching. Those were my initial thoughts. I know they don't all sound great, but this book is the perfect dark and gritty romance.
I've never read anything this dark and been this moved. Pepper Winters is a masterful writer. Although my heart pounded and broke for Pim, I loved everything about this book. In the face of pure horror, our heroine, remains strong. That was key for me. Add great writing to a great heroine with a stunning storyline and that leads to 5 Stars!!

Penny for your thoughts
This story was hard and unrelenting on my soul. I’m all for a dark read and love PW stories, but this one had me shuddering from the first word. Gruesome doesn’t describe the torture. No reprieve. Just pain. My heart ached for Pimlico. I wanted to stop reading just so the pain would stop, but I couldn’t. I had to know if she would make it.
3 & 1/2 Stars
Honestly, I’m not sure I’ll continue the series because the words gouged out my eyes with their horror and strangled the air from my lungs.

Woah...
I have to worn whoever is reading this that it may cause triggers. This is an intense, dark story but I recommend it! Pepper did a great job writing this and Kylie and Eric did a wonderful job bringing the words to life.
If you want to listen to a gripping story that will keep you on your toes and will occasionally make your breath catch in your chest, this is the audio book for you!
I'm only giving this story a 4 star because there is a major developmental issue with the letters. That's all I'll say.
