Publisher's summary

This third book in the Double S Ranch Western romance series transports listeners to where cowboys roam.

In spite of past differences, Trey Walker Stafford would never forget how his uncle, a cowboy and rancher, adopted him and made him part of the family. He'd left the Double S Ranch to pursue music against Sam's wishes and returns discouraged about life and love after tragically losing his wife. Trey feels that he's living a lie, singing of love and happily ever afters while dealing with an emptiness within. What he yearns for, what he truly wants, is peace.

Single mother Lucy Carlton is at her wits' end with the challenges mounting against her, but when Sam Stafford commissions Trey to oversee the rehabilitation of Lucy's farm, things seem to be taking a turn for the better. Until Trey discovers a painful secret from Lucy's past and feels compelled to back away. Can he reclaim Lucy's heart and hope in time to find the peace in the valley he's sought for so long?

The Double S Ranch novels feature the Stafford family of Gray's Glen, Washington, and the love, trials, and faith of Sam's three grown sons as they work the family ranch.

A Story that could be very real.

I’ve heard many people say “Children are resilient” and it does seem like that. The main character in this book: Trey Stratford is now a grown Christian man with a great profession. He gives us glimpses of him when he was a little boy. I’ve come to the conclusion in listening to this series that the circumstances surrounding us as we grow up, whatever it is: relocating, a death, kind or unkind words spoken, abuse, or whatever can be long lasting.
I love the way Ruth Logan Herne ties the whole Stratford family’s stories together and the way God’s amazing grace works for the Good.
Barbara McCulloh was a good choice as the narrator.

Truly Enjoyable Cowboy - Romance Book

An award-winning, chart-topping country music star goes back to his family ranch in Washington. His adoptive father needs a liver transplant. Trey Sanford is a match. But, then he meets a beautiful single mother, literally running into her. He spends weeks repairing her home, trying to make up for accidentally causing the accident. But will he commit? This was an excellent page-turner. Ruth Herne is a top-notch author. I didn’t want to miss a single word! The book’s narrator Barbara gave an amazing performance! ...If you like novels about cowboys - and romance, you’ll l-o-v-e “Peace in the Valley!”
