Over the top is a classic.
Over the top is an old stand by. I rank it with All Quiet and Storm of Steel. It’s a great story about life in the trenches. Over the top covers the fighting and the amusing. You really get a sense of the kid of mischief young men will get into during the tedious/boring stretches of life on the ground during war. Lawrence Skinner turns in a decent performance. No bringing to life here, just reading. However, I personally am not a fan of Joe Barret and was very glad to have another version of this text available. Weather you choose this production or the other one available, Over the Top is on of my first WW1 books I read and it proves just as enjoyable listening to.
