Story
Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

Story
Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At 17 she's already lost more than most people do in a lifetime. But she's learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don't have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you. Every new scar hardens Charlie's heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.

By: Alexi Zentner
Publisher's summary
An original YA novel based on the hit Netflix series Outer Banks, written by New York Times best-selling author Alyssa Sheinmel, featuring JJ and John B in a brand-new, high-octane adventure
It’s spring break in the Outer Banks, and the islands are swarming with rich tourists. The last thing JJ and John B want to do is spend their week watching Kooks in action, so they plan a fishing getaway to the notoriously dangerous Frying Pan Shoals - nicknamed “Graveyard of the Atlantic” for good reason.
Turns out they aren’t the only adventure-seekers at sea. Soon after they set sail, the friends run into the captivating Savannah, who hitches a ride aboard the HMS Pogue when the weather worsens and her boyfriend leaves her stranded. As a violent storm sets in, the three realize the only place to safely ride out the squall is a creepy, abandoned hotel on the shoals’ lighthouse platform. Or is it abandoned? It doesn’t take long for the three teens to realize they may not be alone...
Further complicating the life-or-death adventure is a mounting attraction between JJ and the secretive Savannah - the closer JJ gets to her, the more he realizes he’s playing with fire. Even if they get out of the shoals alive, can a Pogue-Kook romance survive the high-stakes shores of the Outer Banks?

Waverly Lyons has been caught in the middle of her parents’ divorce for as long as she can remember. Coming from the tundra of the north, the beach culture isn’t exactly Waverly’s forte. The sun may just be her mortal enemy, and her vibe is decidedly not chill. To top it off? The TV show on Netflix I’d better…
There’s a lot of repeating of the same sentences. And could have used more descriptive words in the story. The ending was disappointing because savanna and JJ didn’t get together and I think everyone wants to see JJ finally get a win. But them not getting together made sense. Over all the book is pretty good but the TV show is better.

Good
I didn’t think I’d like it. Once I started listening I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait for more if I can find any by this author.

Good book!
I really love Outer Banks and this was a really good way to have a different story line that also follows the Outer Banks show story!

loose ends
The book is a good read but one has to ignore some of the implausible responses of the characters who make convoluted choices ignoring the obvious better choices before them. It is unclear whether the author plans a 'sequel' , but the book leaves the reader hanging with major unresolved issues

Kept me listening!
I thought this book would be a frothy teen story that I could fall asleep to. But I quickly got ensnared in the story and characters. It was far more than a light teen story. I hope there is more in the series.

Pretty good…only thing was that in the show they said pogues for life and in the book they said pogues for ever…it seemed kinda off brand if u know what I mean…
