Guy de Maupassant is widely regarded as the father of the modern short story. As his 13 volumes of short stories attest, he was a prolific writer of this form. He had a simple, efficient style of writing and, like Anton Chekhov, found inspiration for his stories in the daily lives of humans, which often reveal our darker nature. His years of service in the Franco-Prussian War provided him with rich material for his work.

This newer edition of the King James Bible published in 1769 is usually preferred by most that read it over the older 1611 version. This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... 11 Stories, All Good
Cate does a nice job of narration. It's interesting to hear a woman's voice compared to a man's in reading GdM. The stories are not listed, which I believe Aud should add in the introduction. Story 2., Mother Sauvage is magnificent. Story 1., The Colonels Idea, a story of how much French soldiers love French women.
