Publisher's summary

Conscription and death. That is the sword of Damocles hanging over every peasant's head. As the realm gets overrun by bloodthirsty Beasts, every family has to pitch in.

And so, to spare his father and siblings, Ferren offers to be the one from their household to join the king's army.

But during an escort mission, Ferren's convoy is attacked and his right arm ripped off by a ferocious monster.

By some miracle, Ferren survives the ordeal and is sent back home, at the borderlands, to nurse his wounds. Worry begins to settle in, especially with the way his missing limb starts itching and burning.

Soon, he is shocked to find dark purple scales growing on his skin, and his stump getting bigger by the day. In a matter of a few weeks, a new arm has regrown. Looks like, somehow, he inherited some of the powers from the Beast he encountered, and he can now change his arm into any tool or weapon he's familiar with. Not only that, he will learn he can also gain new abilities and forms for his arm by killing more monsters.

Ferren will use his newfound skills to help with the family farm, but also to protect them and the people living nearby as the waves of attacks increase. But will that be enough?

Very Impressive

When I got this book I was not sure about it. But as I went through the story it started to impress me. Every time I thought the story might ver off into a standard cliché it didn’t. Even though there turn out to be a few things that was quite predictable the overall effect was quite good.

Complaints about narrator are unfounded.

Story is pretty freaking awesome! I love the concept its kinda like venom mixed with green lantern minus the alternate sentient personality and ring. Narrator did a very good job in my opinion. His voice sounds bad ass. People say his voice sounds too old but I’m 24 years old and have an extremely deep voice much like the narrator. My brother is 28 and his voice is even deeper than the narrators and has been since he was in high school. Truly interesting story that is quite unique. Never read/listened to something quite like it. And yes I did both I listen to books when I’m at work or driving but I prefer reading when I’m at home since I read much faster in my head than narrators of audio books could ever. Couldn’t put this one down! Finished it in 4.5 hours!

I’m loving this purchase!

I got this book with the last sale any so far I’m loving it! This was such a great story and the narrator just brings it alive even more. Hoping that the next book is as good as this one was!

pretty interesting start, Bad ending.

honestly I am so sick of the obvious choice setup. The start of this book is great it's a generic farmer that suffers a horrible wound on his first day in the army.

Then we lead into the book's cover and I feel like that was not dug into all that much but it's at least understandable since if you lost an arm and got it back, you would pray to God your not dreaming and just enjoy having it again.

and I am gonna just skip to the ending. for context he has done everything to improve his family and friends place in the world. then basically just bailed on his family/friends for the army...... that's a very simple explanation of the ending but it explains my issue with it perfectly.

If you're going to honor the genre Then honor it

This is one of those books where sect the publishing company said let's try and entice the litrPG Community unfortunately this author me the software while being a great storyteller just just barely put anything into it when it came to stats or anything If hes going to continue this he needs to make it crunchy and find his balance Why did he bother even to put anything we think in about the different monsters if hes not going to put the stats in because it makes it look like hes just folding it in with this his ability to tell intricate stories is great into honor the community then then it's a waste of time Why did he bother even to put anything we think in about the different monsters if hes not going to put the stats in because it makes it look like hes just folding it in with this his ability to tell intricate stories is great into honor the community then then it's a waste of time

horrible narrator

book was good overall but the main gripe I have is the narrator sucks. apart from that there didn't really feel like a whole lot of development.
