In this audio essay, Jason performs Oliver Goldsmith's essay from 1760, "On National Prejudices". Goldsmith, author of the play She Stoops to Conquer, harps on the ridiculousness of unquestioned nationalism, bemoaning how even England's most educated gentlemen do not feel as citizens of the world. Jason's clear enunciation and deliberate pacing make Goldsmith's antiquated syntax approachable for modern audiences. Meanwhile, Jason gets Goldsmith's grandiose, if not arrogant, tone spot-on.
