Publisher's summary

Tina Edwards loved her childhood and creating fairy houses, a passion shared with her father, a world-renowned architect. But at nine years old, she found him dead at his desk and is haunted by this memory. Tina’s mother abruptly moved away leaving Tina with feelings of abandonment and suspicion. Raised by her loving, wheelchair-bound Aunt Liddy, her father’s sister, 33 year old Tina has become a miniature room artist and cherishes the control she has over her life in Northeast Georgia as she works hard to please her beloved dead father’s wishes of following in his footsteps in art and history.

At the same time Mr. Jake Martin, all six-foot three of him, with a heavy southern drawl and winsome dimple, hires Tina to build replicas of the original rooms of his own family’s Victorian mansion purchased to turn into a B&B, Tina’s estranged, dying mother re-enters her life with family secrets that must be told. Amid their research for Jake, Tina and her assistant find out that stories from his past were unfounded and prove that miscommunications and misperceptions passed down through families create unwarranted, painful separations, echoing Tina’s life story.

Loved everything about it!

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book! In this book we meet Tina (Christina) who has created a business making miniature replicas and runs the business out of her home with her best friend as her assistant. As a 9-year-old child Tina discovered her father lying dead over his desk and then was abruptly abandoned by her mother. She was left in the care of her Aunt Liddy (her father's sister) and carried feelings of resentment toward her mother, as she blamed her mother for not seeking help for her father to save him. And why did her mother never come back for her?

Fast forward to today, Tina is now 33 years old, and her mother shows up at her door claiming she has lung cancer and is going to undergo treatment for it and asks to move in with Tina during the course of the treatments. Of course, Tina is vehemently against her mother moving in! She hasn't been around for the past 20 plus years, and NOW she wants to come back and make amends?!? At the same time as this is going on, Jake Martin comes into the picture asking to make "little rooms" for his mother for their new B&B. Tina and her assistant gladly take on the job, and during the research for their project, they discover that the past Jake's family knows isn't quite as it had appeared. Mirroring this, Tina finds out that the life she thought she knew turned out to be quite a different story and she's left with so many questions. It completely turns her world upside down as she realizes she's not who she thought she was, and neither was her beloved father and estranged mother, nor is her dear Aunt Liddy!

I HIGHLY recommend this book. There's family drama including secrets and betrayal. There's heartache and love. And even a little romance to boot! You won't regret this book!

Family can be so complicated

This was a wonderful story. It's so beautifully complicated. I could relate so well to it. After my stepfather passed, I found out things weren't what I thought they were. That really hurt, I thought he was my world. I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer. It's amazing how much we can relate. I found the characters to be unique and entertaining. Their personalities really showed through. Every personality had so much to work with and on. I really ended up having to listen to this story in virtually one sitting because I was totally drawn it. I found the narration to be good. It's a story worth using that credit on.

Great Audio Mystery

This is my first audio by this author which I enjoyed listening to. This is a mystery story about Tina and her determination to figure out if stories from the past are true. Plus Tina’s mother reenters Tina’s life and has her own secrets to tell. I enjoyed this story and how the narrator brought the story to life with different tones of voices. This is an easy book to listen to and had me wanting to know more. An engaging audio with characters that are connectable and make the story for me. I look forward to listening to another audiobook by this author in the future. I highly recommend this book.

Great listen!

"Not So Little Things" by Kyle Ann Robertson is a captivating audiobook that delves into the complexities of family dynamics and the power of communication. The story follows Tina Edwards, a 33-year-old miniature room artist, who is still haunted by the memory of her father's sudden death and her mother's abandonment.

The author's writing is engaging and well-paced, with a strong focus on character development and emotional depth. The narrator's performance is also excellent, bringing the characters to life with her clear and expressive voice.

One of the standout aspects of this audiobook is its exploration of the impact of miscommunications and misperceptions on family relationships. The story shows how these misunderstandings can lead to unwarranted pain and separation, and how confronting them can lead to healing and closure.

The audiobook is also full of vivid descriptions of the Victorian mansion and its intricate details, which will transport listeners to a different time and place.

Loved it

Not So Little Things

The Fairy houses were enough to convince me to listen to Tina's story. While they were an important part of her story there was so much including some surprises which I never saw coming.

Tina held onto some very important memories from her childhood with her daddy. Those memories lead her down a career path with her best friend. Though it's not super successful in the beginning she sees things shift after a meeting with a client amongst other things.

Doors open and shut all the way through. I loved the memories of Tina and her daddy, made me think of mine and miss him more than normal.

There are so many things I enjoyed about this book, the narration only added to the it. I found myself getting lost in the story instead of what I should have been doing.

Fairy houses and secrets

Tina Edwards is my kind of person. She loves building fairy houses, just like her father did. When her father passed away, Tina's mother took off. Leaving her with her aunt. Now that Tina is grown and running her own miniature room business. Things she once knew are changing, the secrets are coming out and everything she once knew is no longer. While at the same time she is working on rooms for an old Victorian home. The author of this story has a great way of writing stories. They captured my interest in chapter 1 and kept me listening to the end. So much going on in this story and yet kept my interest. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. Her stories are well written.
