Publisher's summary

In a business like monster hunting, it's all about setting priorities.

The chaos god Asag has been quiet since the destruction of the City of Monsters, but Monster Hunter International know that he is still out there, somewhere - plotting, waiting for his chance to unravel reality.

When Owen and the MHI team discover that one of Isaac Newton's Ward Stones is being auctioned off by Reptoids who live deep beneath Atlanta, they decide to steal the magical superweapon and use it to destroy Asag once and for all. But before the stone can be handed off, it is stolen by a mysterious thief with ties to MHI and the Vatican's Secret Guard.

It's a race against time, the Secret Guard, a spectral bounty hunter, and a whole bunch of monsters to acquire the Ward Stone and use it against Asag. For as dangerous as the chaos god is, there is something much older - and infinitely more evil - awakening deep in the jungles of South America.

At the publisher’s request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management).

Ah, now THAT was a good book

Loved it! Both the written and audio versions of the book are a delight - with each drawing your attention to different aspects of the story.
As with all truly good books, I look forward to the next

I love Larry, but where is the other half of this book?

So as expected, I absolutely loved this episode of MHI, but it feels less like a book with a beginning, middle and end. Don’t hear what I am not saying. I totally loved it, I was just not expecting the book to suddenly end without any closure whatsoever to the story. On a completely different topic, the narrator is absolutely Amazing! Oliver Wyman is hands down the best narrator I have ever heard.

Another great story from Larry Correia

Fast paced with a lot of action. Great audio performance by Oliver Wyman as usual. I couldn't put the audiobook down and finished the whole thing in two sittings, interrupted only by the need to sleep. :) Looking forward to Book 9.

Already looking forward to another one in this series.

I Love the MHI series. Listened to the whole series again in anticipation of this new release. Then, I listened to Bloodlines twice back to back. Thank You Larry! Love your little family of monster hunters aka you!

Another great entry into the MHI series!

My only complaint is that it was too short, but I don’t think I could get an MHI book that was long enough! Lots of fun monster killing action, and some great revelations and big questions answered. Really looking forward to what can only be the Seven Samurai or Magnificent Seven of MHI books!

Nonstop Monster Carnage!

No love scenes or excessive dialog. Just excessive and beautiful firearm and edged weapons violence with unstoppable force from Owen and company as they duke it out with diabolical enemies and monsters of pure evil. New and old villains revealed with mysteries explained and new plots developed..
Glorious pulp fiction as always and this book leads off into another quest that's going to be too hard to wait for. Might be time to check out some fan fiction to fill the time. I hope it won't be longer than a year. Great edition!

Fun listen, but main storyline barely budged

I appreciate getting back to a story with Z as the primary protagonist in a book written solely by Mr. Correia, which IMO are superior to those co-written with others. That said, it appears that the battle sequences are drawn out greatly to bring this story to novel size, but the overall plot is just inching along. Supporting characters like Earl and Julie are just there to advance the plot. *That* said, the monsters and other antagonists are interesting and the dialogue was fun and often hilarious. A new character is introduced that brings some needed freshness to the story. A very enjoyable listen overall. I gotta believe, though, Mr. Correia is rapidly closing in on the ending of Z’s overarching storyline. I mean, how much longer can he drag this out?
