Confusing and disappointing
Perhaps this series was meant for teenagers but this was a disappointing end to the trilogy. I enjoyed the first two books quite a lot but this one had far too many characters (there must have been literally hundreds of them). This left the listener reeling from sheer confusion because of the sheer volume of characters. Add to that so many similar and also very unusual names. Cadwallen, Cadwallader, Caradoc (there was one more in this name group)....the list goes on. There were many times when I had no idea which character was speaking simply because of the similar name. I understand these are the names of Welsh kings which perhaps the author felt gave the book some cred, but it was a fantasy story so there was no need to confuse the readers by using almost identical names. And then there was the perfect incarnations as well as the immortal people. Also confusing as it seems even if you die and you're not an immortal you will be back soon. By the end people were zapping in and out of rooms and across the world and the universe with regular monotony. I stuck with it as having already come this far and paid the money I felt I had to. There were so many inconsistencies in the story, the most annoying being Doc seemed to be totally forgiven by Maelgwn, Tory and Rhiannon, after his attempted murder and dreadful treatment of Rhiannon. This is my first bad review after listening to hundreds of books. Excellent reader. You have the most beautiful speaking voice.
