Not a bad book, but not a good book.

This sort of book has become increasingly common in litRPG. The writing is pretty good, and the story checks most of the boxes, but there just isn't much else to say about it.

It's strength is probably the RTS/town-builder mechanics. The world building and magic system are just adequate. Action scenes are not particularly dramatic or interesting. The harem element is entirely superficial. while the explicit scenes are juvenile. That said, they are also independent of the plot. They could be easily skipped.

It's worth giving it a shot

I am rather familiar with this author's previous work. Out of everything that he's done so far, my favorite is going to have to be “Griff the Griffin Rider” which you can get as an omnibus. Books 1 through 5 in audio or eBook format. I also liked “Dinosaur World” which is a trilogy of his and you can get three books in one package as well. As for the narration team that was picked to bring this story to life, they are in my top three favorite narrators of all time. I have never seen them do less than a fantastic job and I greatly look forward to their future performances. For this story our hero gets summoned to a futuristic world where the people are split between overlord and citizen. The overlords are dickish cruel elflike beings and the citizens play at airhead to avoid the scrutiny of the overlords while attempting to fight back. War has been set aside and supplemented by a competitive game where the stakes are high. The overlords are sterile and at stake is surrogates for them to continue their race. The overlord cheat outrageously and it's up to our hero to win against all odds. Of course, this is a Harem adventure and thus there are three ladies to join our hero in his quest to right the wrongs. The writing is solid all around and I look forward to what comes next for this author. Well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this word to us Audible listeners.

excellence incarnate

a great game builder with harem aspects. the way the author brings everything together and the way the narrator brings it to life will keep you entertained while the time just melts away. then it will give you a nice chocolate chip cookie for dessert.

Yeah this was good

Lots of really cool ideas in this one, and the voice actors were both absolutely spot on. I loved the LitRPG twist with a Civ-like game. Satisfying ending, too. Definitely recommend it. Also, the chibis are cute.

Ridiculously fun! Need bk2 NOW!!!

This book starts off like many other in this genre. A guy arrives in a new world and a hot girl finds him, but that's where descriptions like average, similar to, and like most, end. Almost immediately after arrival and discovery, we are taken on a whirlwind journey through the city just to get to the real start of the book. Once we get to the MC's real challenge, even more adventures ensue including base-building, sexy-times, dungeons, fights, exploration along with a healthy dose of attitude.

Gabriel Michaels and Katana Jones were great and truly brought each character to life. These two really know their craft and have become a forceful duet. This was a super fun audiobook that was more than worth the credit.

Awesome

Awesome world building strategy that isn’t often found in this genre. No overpowered characters just an MC and his companions growing stronger as a team and strategically fight to win against the odds.

Fantastic narration duo!
