Story
The Bennet family of Longbourn, Hertfordshire, had long been known to its neighbours as exceptionally learned though eccentric, but was tolerated because the first Bennets settled there more than four hundred years before, just after the great plague. Both the grandfather and father of the master, Mr. Thomas Bennet, married blue-stocking wives from the Continent. These circumstances had a profound effect on Mrs. Bennet and her five daughters. Because of this broader worldview, the Bennet family was more aware of, and affected by some historical events of the period far outside the twenty-...

Good story. A few small issues.
This was a fine story. I enjoyed it. I thought upon downloading this book and the other variations using virtual voice that I would hate that narration but it was not that bad. I will be sending Audible feedback on that as it really has nothing to do with the story. I actually appreciate that the virtual voice option is probably less expensive but it also may give me access to stories I like as part of my Audible membership.
As far as the story goes it was great and a more unique variation of P&P. The only issue I have is with the renaming of some of the characters. I am not sure we ever actually know the Matlock's names so as far as the new characters go, no issue at all It was confusing though that some of the characters did not have the names that are so often used by variations that they have basically become canon. I know that nowhere in P&P do we know Mrs. Gardiner's first name but in the variations, which are extensive, she is known as Madeline. I know you want to put your own mark on the story but when she was being referred to I often got taken right out of the story to try and remember who that person was.
That suggestion is really a bit of a nitpick though. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it for all P&P variation fans.

Dull
Very dull - I could not get into it. The characters were flat and the chemistry between Darcy and Elizabeth is very weak. I think the poor virtual voice production is the main reason the book was dull. Perhaps a real person could have put the emotion into the story and the characters.
