Four brief stories for the beginner

Four mini stories in simple Swedish illustrate introduce vocabulary and introductory verb forms.

The story subjects will trigger the bootstrap boomers:

1. The World’s Most Influential Teenagers, 2. Owning Less Makes You Happier, 3. Will You Have a Successful Life? and 4. Do the Things You Love.

The voice, which sounds virtually uninflected, will aid basic pronunciation but little more than that. It is greatly slowed down so an absolute beginner can follow along.

Double reinforcement, hearing and seeing, is a strong method for learning languages. The pdf helps you see what you are hearing as well as become accustomed to Swedish word order. While word order is often similar to English, there are odd variations. There are also difficult sounds plus three non-Latin characters that don’t exist in English. Hearing these while seeing them spelled is so helpful.

A book like Barron’s 201 Swedish Verbs with full conjugation pages can help with those tricky irregulars, and a reliable modern dictionary is a must-have.
