Publisher's summary

All she wanted was one last summer at the beach house...

When the unthinkable happens, and Claire Thompson's husband dies suddenly, she's left wondering how to go on. Being a wife and mother is all she's ever known. Grieving and lost, she decides to take her family for one last trip to their beach house before she's forced to put it up for sale. The house is filled with happy memories, and it seems like a great way to remember Bryan.

But as she soon finds out, Bryan was harboring some complicated secrets. The kind that will change the lives of Claire and her daughter. And those secrets come to light while Claire is at the beach house, shattering her memories and making her realize she never really knew her husband.

How does she move forward with these new revelations? How will her daughter cope? What will become of them now that they know Bryan wasn't the man they thought he was?

Claire can only pray things work out for them during their last summer at the beach house.

I couldn’t cope with the narrator

Assuming it’s similar to the authors other series I’m sure it was a fun and positive listen but I didn’t get very far because the narrator made me crazy very sing song, deliberate speech pattern with a bit of a? Inflection at the end of each sentence super strange.

Couldn’t get through it

I absolutely love Maggie miller’s books. The blackbird beach series I have listened to over and over. I could not get into this one. I’ve tried so many times. The narrator is absolutely horrible. It’s like nails on a chalkboard trying to listen to this. It actually gives me anxiety listening to her somehow when normally these books are my comfort. Besides the horrible narrator I couldn’t get into the characters. All her other books the characters felt like friends to me, this one I just couldn’t connect to anyone. I’ll keep trying to get into this one, but if you are like me coming from blackbird beach or compass key this one isn’t like those at all. In my opinion anyway. I won’t be buying anymore in the series, and I’ll never get anything this narrator reads.

When the bomb dropped about the dad passing away after having two families

I really liked the Gulf Coast series she had before this series. This one was really hard to get into unlike the previous one. It was really rather boring, except for the part of the dad dying, and they found out that he had another family secretly.

Boring

Boring, I won’t finish the series. Too predictable, no need to keep listening already know what couples will end up together.
