En 2001 fue descubierta la red de los hermanos Julio, Tomás y Luciano Salazar Juárez, quienes llevaban años secuestrando a jóvenes mexicanas para obligarlas a prostituirse en Tijuana y en los "campos del amor" cerca de las plantaciones de fresas de San Ysidro, California.
