Historia
The only person who might have the answers to a baffling murder case is the victim's seven-year-old daughter, found hiding in the room where her mother died. And she's not talking. Newly-promoted, out of his depth, detective Huldar turns to Freyja for her expertise with traumatized young people. Freyja, who distrusts the police in general and Huldar in particular, isn't best pleased. But she's determined to keep little Margret safe. It may prove tricky. The killer is leaving them strange clues: warnings in text messages, sums scribbled on bits of paper, numbers on the radio.

Roy has never left the quiet mountain town he grew up in, unlike his little brother Carl who couldn't wait to get out and escape his troubled past. Just like everyone else in town, Roy believed Carl was gone for good. But Carl has big plans for his hometown. And when he returns with a mysterious new wife and a business opportunity that seems too good to be true, simmering tensions begin to surface and unexplained deaths in the town's past come under new scrutiny. Sonny Lofthus is a strangely charismatic and complacent young man. Sonny’s been in prison for a dozen years, nearly half his life. The inmates who seek out his uncanny abilities to soothe leave his cell feeling absolved. They don’t know or care that Sonny has a serious heroin habit - or where or how he gets his uninterrupted supply of the drug. Or that he’s serving time for other peoples’ crimes. Sonny took the first steps toward addiction when his father took his own life rather than face exposure as a corrupt cop. Now Sonny is the seemingly malleable center of a whole infrastructure of corruption....

Historia
Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl - who didn’t draw his weapon - blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: A liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

Historia
Northern Ireland, spring 1981. Hunger strikes, riots, power cuts, a homophobic serial killer with a penchant for opera, and a young woman’s suicide that may yet turn out to be murder: on the surface, the events are unconnected, but then things—and people—aren’t always what they seem. Detective Sergeant Duffy is the man tasked with trying to get to the bottom of it all. It’s no easy job—especially when it turns out that one of the victims was involved in the IRA but was last seen discussing business with someone from the loyalist Ulster Volunteer Force.

It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

Historia
Part epic of Texas, part classic coming-of-age story, part unflinching examination of the bloody price of power, The Son is a gripping and utterly transporting novel that maps the legacy of violence in the American west with rare emotional acuity, even as it presents an intimate portrait of one family across two centuries. Eli McCullough is just twelve-years-old when a marauding band of Comanche storm his Texas homestead and brutally murder his mother and sister, taking him as a captive.

A psychopath is terrorizing Copenhagen. His calling card is a “chestnut man” - a handmade doll made of matchsticks and two chestnuts - which he leaves at each bloody crime scene. A tragic coincidence - or something more twisted? To save innocent lives, a pair of detectives must put aside their differences to piece together the Chestnut Man’s gruesome clues.

Resumen del Editor
Brilliant, audaciously rogue police officer Harry Hole, from The Snowman and The Thirst, is back and in the throes of a new, unanticipated rage - once again hunting the murderer who has haunted his entire career.
Harry Hole is not in a good place. Rakel - the only woman he's ever loved - has ended it with him, permanently. He's been given a chance for a new start with the Oslo Police, but it's in the cold case office. What he really wants is to be investigating cases he suspects have ties to Svein Finne, the serial rapist and murderer who Harry helped put behind bars. And now, Finne is free after a decade-plus in prison - free and, Harry is certain, unreformed and ready to take up where he left off. But things will get worse. When Harry wakes up the morning after a drunken night with blood that's clearly not his own on his hands, it's only the very beginning of what will be a waking nightmare the likes of which even he could never have imagined.
Reseñas de la Crítica
"Knife, Mr. Nesbo's 12th Harry Hole book, translated from the Norwegian by Neil Smith, is arguably the best entry yet in the author's outstanding series.... The moral conundrums in Knife are Dostoevskian, the surprises are breathtaking, the one-liners are amusing, and the suspense is unrelenting. This is that rare lengthy book that one wouldn't want shortened by even a single page.” (Tom Nolan, The Wall Street Journal)
"Knife is indeed a sharp example of its genre. The pages turn, the violence is brutal, and the characters are well-drawn and mysterious.... The book is dense, but brisk.... Nesbo has a great sense of pacing. Each reveal - did he do it? did she? - is meticulously laid out as he takes readers along for the ride.... The final whodunit is powerful and leaves Harry - and readers - wondering what’s next.” (Rob Merrill, Associated Press)
"Knife is a reminder of why people read [Nesbo’s] books.... Thicker and more complex than most of the earliest Nesbo novels - including his often-slender stand-alone books - Knife resembles in its heft and sweep The Redbreast.... The novel ends with a fascinating series of shifts and reframings both dramatically satisfying as fiction and - in the real, Norwegian world of crime-fighting in which the novel is set - ethically queasy.... It also leaves Harry on what can only be called a knife’s edge. The bad, or at least, ambiguous news for the novel’s characters is good news for the rest of us: There will, it seems, be more of these.” (Scott Timberg, Los Angeles Times)

When a young man is found gruesomely murdered in a London houseboat, it triggers questions about three women who knew him. Laura is the troubled one-night-stand last seen in the victim’s home. Carla is his grief-stricken aunt, already mourning the recent death of yet another family member. And Miriam is the nosy neighbor clearly keeping secrets from the police. Three women with separate connections to the victim. Three women who are – for different reasons – simmering with resentment. Historia
An unbearably tense novel of revenge, murder, bereavement and the destructive force of passion. The single-mother families of the isolated community under the shadow of the Pyderhorn, Bergen's greatest mountain, are being terrorised by a teenage gang. But teenage violence is nothing compared to what awaits detective Varg Veum when he gets to know the blue-eyed Wenche Andersen.

Historia
A psychopath is terrorizing Copenhagen. His calling card is a “chestnut man” - a handmade doll made of matchsticks and two chestnuts - which he leaves at each bloody crime scene. Examining the dolls, forensics makes a shocking discovery - a fingerprint belonging to a young girl, a government minister’s daughter who had been kidnapped and murdered a year ago. A tragic coincidence - or something more twisted? To save innocent lives, a pair of detectives must put aside their differences to piece together the Chestnut Man’s gruesome clues.

La policía sospecha que fue violada antes de morir, pero no se ha hallado rastro alguno de ADN. Harry Hole tendrá como compañero de investigación a Andrew Kengsinton, detective aborigen australiano. From the internationally acclaimed author of the Harry Hole novels—a fast, tight, darkly lyrical stand-alone novel that has at its center the perfectly sympathetic antihero: an Oslo contract killer who draws us into an unexpected meditation on death and love.

This one is going to hurt!
Best Harry Hole story yet. A real roller coaster ride. If you have read the previous books and have gotten to know some of Harry's friends and enemies, be prepared to get injured on this journey.
If this is your first Joe Nesbo book, you are starting at the top and it is downhill from here. You can be comforted to know that the other books in this series are better than most detective books that have a following.
As always, John Lee is a top notch narrator. I'm not Norwegian, but his pronunciation of Norwegian locations and names sounds authentic enough to make me want to visit this interesting country.

Another AMAZING novel!!
We really missed Harry, and this installation has us all back on our feet. The twist and turns in suspicion., the inspirational/repeatable quotes and knowledge, this is Jo at his finest, and we really appreciate it! Totally unbelievable ending as only Jo can deliver. ❤❤❤❤

No roll of the dice on this gem! Fine character development and story line. Great to check in on these old friends and see how the new ones fit into this fascinating tale. Love seeing how these alpha males keep screwing up their lives and never learn from their mistakes.

What a despot - Harry Hole!
i enjoyed this latest installment immensely! so much, in fact, that i can almost overlook the length of time it took to release the Eng translation. Even with the love of Harry's life gone he still found time to do some bedhopping (REALLY?!)?? Although i found deets of Harry Holes sexual conquests unnecessary & a ploy by the author to prolong the story, it was still very enjoyable (i just skipped over the parts where Harry was bedhopping) & as always the narration & production of same were top notch. So glad the narrator has remained the same throughout the series! Thank you JN for another great read!

Another fun who dunnit from Jo Nessbo, which I enjoyed from start to stop. Consume his books like popcorn. I can't help but wonder what his personal record collection looks like.

Brilliant Nordic Noire
Has there ever been a protagonist is damaged, physically and emotionally, as Harry Hole? Nesbo dishes up villains who are every bit as evil, and plots as devilishly complex, as anyone. Highly recommend thriller.

Exceptional
My review might be biased because I've read every other Harry Hole novel so the characters feel incredibly real to me, like old friends, but objectively this is one of the best detective novels out there, and one of Nesbø's best. The narrator, John Lee, continues to perform exceedingly well.
