Publisher's summary

Imperial Intelligence couldn't find them, the Imperial Fleet couldn't catch them, and local defenses couldn't stop them. It seemed the planet-wrecking pirates were invincible. But they made a big mistake when they raided ex-commando leader Alicia DeVries' quiet home/work, tortured and murdered her family, and then left her for dead.

Alicia decided to turn "pirate" herself, and stole a cutting-edge AI ship from the empire to start her vendetta. Her fellow veterans think she's gone crazy, the Imperial Fleet has shoot-on-sight orders. And, of course, the pirates want her dead, too. But Alicia DeVries has two allies nobody knows about, allies as implacable as she is: a self-aware computer and a creature from the mists of Old Earth's most ancient legends. And this trio of furies won't rest until vengeance is served.

In Fury Born is a greatly expanded new version of David Weber's popular novel Path of the Fury, which has gone through six large printings in its original mass market edition. David Weber has added considerable new material, revealing the earlier life of Alicia DeVries before she embarked on her mission of vengeance, and illuminating the universe of the original story. The result is a novel with almost twice the wordage of the original, and a must-buy for all David Weber fans.

Amazing!!

One of my favorite books from Weber. I prefer this version to Path of the Fury, there is more character development and a better understanding of the main character and the supporting cast.

A military science fiction book to read and enjoy

David Webe is one of th masters of “military science fiction” and this book is one of his masterpieces. Those of us who have read The Path of the Fury get the intricately told back story. Those who have not are in for a rare treat [[ lots of action, intrigue and lots of character development, in multiple senses of tha phrase. Read and enjoy!

Honorverse Adjacent

An entertaining, nerve wracking, joyous ride through another space faring world/universe. Multispecies racial politics collide with human interactions and conflicts. If you enjoyed the Honorverse youll enjoy this one.

Sci-fi 2021

I had my doubts about this one because I’m not familiar with David Weber’s writing because as a nerd, I have my list of authors that I like to read, especially when it comes to science fiction. With this genre, most readers have their favorite writers and it’s hard to stray away from your faves because unlike other subjects, you have to understand the universe that the person is building. It takes multiple books to latch onto their style. “In Fury Born” helped me understand Weber’s world and it is Sci-fi 2021. I really enjoyed this one. It’s very much like what I’m used to from other authors in this genre.

Wow, just wow!

A story well told and orchestrated. I think there is room for more and I would purchase it when available. A dramatic emotional tale about people doing the right thing.

incomprehensible rage

It was a different take on a David Weber Novel, I loved it. It does start off a bit mundane but by the end you want a whole new series. I would love to know what becomes of every body. Thank you much Mr. Weber for yarn that I will definitely revisit from time to time.!

Good drama, intrigue & Sci Fi built in

The series had me hanging till the end, which managed to make it seem that the main characters would end their lives, pulled it through to a good news ending. And a 4000 year old God like figure certainly help make it all happen.

Talk about a strong female main character!

Just wow. I’m not a sci fi fan generally, but Alicia is just a fascinating main character with a huge story arc that is well worth the many hours of listen time. The combination of Ancient Greek mythology character with futuristic sci fi military protégée is a fun balance of well known literary genres, and ends up being almost a maiden/mother/crone triple being by the end which is even more interesting. Worth every cent of the purchase price and every second devoted to listening. I’ve powered through because I had to know what happened next and will definitely listen to this one many more times.

Another Good One

A very good story but in the last couple of hours the inclusion of a character named "Aleximov" or close to that. wreaked hell on my "Alexa" device....so for that I figure you owe me at least 2 more Books in the Manticore Ascendant series......just saying..
