Publisher's summary

Elias Stevens, the Marquess of Savorton doesn’t believe he’ll ever fall in love. He may marry one day, because the title demands it; however, that elusive emotion will not be freely given to his future wife.

A house party changes everything for him though. His dearest friend makes a wager with him. He’ll fall in love by the new year. Elias takes that bet because he knows his own heart.

Lady Gabriella St. Giles lives a charmed life. She has a good family and fully believes one day she’ll meet a gentleman sure to steal her heart. What she doesn’t count on is meeting an scandalously intriguing marquess at a house party.

Love is on the agenda. One of them wants it and the other hopes to desperately escape it. That wager gives the marquess far more than he could ever imagined, and Gabriella may just acquire her own future duke to savor.

Steamy House Party Novella Romance

Elias, who is not a duke but a duke’s heir and his widow friend Eleanor make a bet about falling in love at a house party, cynical about love for himself but hopeful she can be with the man her father forced her to give up for his own gain. He meets Gabriella and suggests showing her pleasure. Insulted but also intrigued Gabriella decides to spend time with him playing games to learn more about him, but will he get past his negative feelings about love? For someone who hadn’t been kissed until the beginning of the book she falls into bed pretty quickly with him.

I liked the narrator with her British accent, inflections, and different voices.

Elias and Gabrielle

This is a sweet story. Elias doesn’t believe in love, and is a bit jaded. He takes a bet. Gabrielle is a good girl, from a good family, looking for a future husband. Opposites often attract, and now we have a couple. Sweet, short story. It is well enough written. I feel a little something was missing, but till enjoyable. Sweet Regency Romance

This is book 13 in the Wayward Dukes' Alliance series, a Regency Romance. Elias and Gabriella's story is fast-paced, and passionate, filled with humor, banter, and twists and turns. The characters are interesting. I liked this short novella. Emma Riches did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Elias and Gabriella

The thirteenth story in the Wayward Dukes’ Alliance, another great short story. Elias Stevens, the Marquess of Savorton and Lady Gabriella St. Giles meet at a house party. he does not believe in love and she does. The story is entertaining as these two with their ups and downs work towards a happy ending. I enjoyed listening to Emma Riches narrate their story.

Her Duke to Savor!

This is a stand alone read in the "Wayward Dukes' Alliance" series. The book is a fairly short and quick one to read or listen too. This one is about Elias, the Marquess of Savorton, and Lady Gabriella. He has no hopes of falling in love and even makes a bet with his long time friend. When he meets Gabriella he is immediately drawn to her. She stuns him and his is mesmerized. The feeling is mutual. When a house party and a scavenger hunt leads to fun and more, what will become of the bet? I enjoyed this story and really like the characters. I look forward to seeing what happens with some of the secondary characters in this story.

Regency House Party High Jinks with a Wager!

First, can I say it drives me crazy when contemporary Regency authors throw the word “duke” in the title when the hero is not a duke? This one's a marquess, an heir of a duke, but he is not a duke yet! Far too many authors do this. Grrr! Do they really think we won't pick up a book if the hero is a marquess instead of a duke?

Despite this annoyance, I actually enjoyed this fun, frothy little story. I knew I was going to be in for a good time because of two things we learn quickly: the story is going to take place at a house party—always a good setting for a Regency romance—and it starts with the laying out of a wager between the hero and his female widowed best friend. They have absolutely no romantic interest in each other, unlike so many books about good friends who eventually become lovers. They essentially challenge each other to fully take part in this house party they've both been invited to, not hiding out in their rooms because they're not interested in any attachments or marriage. Losing your heart to someone means that you lose the bet!

As you may imagine, high jinks ensue, and I loved the treasure hunt at the heart of this book. As a lover of books and Jane Austen, I adored how the library at the manor house and the book Emma (and the heroine's solid knowledge of it) were a part of the treasure hunt. The book is steamy, which I don't have a problem with in principle, but I believe it needs to be done within a better context than was done here. But this was such a fun romp that I will forgive that. If you like romances that take place at a Regency house party with an interesting wager and fun house party games, you will probably enjoy this frothy and fun novella as much as I did.

Enchanting!

Elias Stevens and Elena, the Dowager Countess of Dryden, have been best of friends since they were in diapers. They have remained close throughout their lives and now, as adults, they find themselves musing about their romantic lives. Elena was married to a cold man who did her the favor of dying and she has no desire to repeat that mistake. Elias knows he will be married someday because his title of Marquess requires it, but that doesn't mean he'll be able to fall in love. A Christmas-time house party may change things for Elias, as Elena is planning a game and a wager that he will fall in love before the year is out. Elena is well-prepared for this wager, since she rigged the game to make sure that Elias is paired with the beautiful Lady Gabriella St. Giles. She has had a wonderful life and is certain that she'll marry a good man one day. Little did she know that she'd meet that special man at a house party during a scavenger hunt. The game was witty and cleverly done with clues that were fun to follow. As Gabriella and Elias found their way to the last clue, they both had fallen. This series is filled with such swoon-worthy characters and lovely writing that leaves you with a smile on your face.
The narration is beautifully done by Emma Riches. Her dynamic, emotional voice, delightful accent and solid pace and modulation of the story are perfect from start to finish and the characters feel alive.

Wager on Love

This is a quick delightful tale that begins with a wager between friends Elias and
Elena. If one of them finds love, a boon is due the other. Off they go to a house party. Let the fun, and romance, begin. Gabriella has come to the party to be with her friend. She meets Elias in the conservatory, and after a kiss under the mistletoe, believes she has found the gentleman for her. Elias doesn’t think he believes in love. Will his feelings for Gabriella change his mind? A cute story with delightful schemes and great characters. Entertaining narration by Emma Riches.
