Publisher's summary

A Warhammer Age of Sigmar audiobook.

The Siege of Excelsis is over, but the bloody battle has left its mark on the witch hunters Galen and Doralia ven Denst. When her father, Galen, disappears into the wilds of Ghur, Doralia sets off in pursuit, wracked with suspicions that Galen's quest may yet spell doom for all Excelsis.

Listen to it because: discover the mysterious past of Galen and Doralia ven Denst, in a tale of mystery and revenge set in Ghur after the Siege of Excelsis.

The story: the Siege of Excelsis is over at last, and the survivors count the costs amidst the rubble of their city. Even for Galen and Doralia ven Denst, two of the most feared witch hunters in the Order of Azyr, the horrors they have witnessed are not so easily dismissed. Struggling with the traumas inflicted by the siege, Doralia's concerns only grow when her father disappears into the wilds of Ghur. As she sets off on his trail, Doralia begins to suspect that Galen is hunting down a dark secret from their past - one that might hold the key to a new threat rising to engulf Excelsis.

With the city barely recovered from its ordeal, both witch hunters must make a fatal choice between the desire for revenge and the rigours of duty - and should they decide poorly, Excelsis will pay the price.

Written by Richard Strachan. Narrated by Helen Keeley.

Never cross the Order of Azar

Good story and excellent performance. Would recommend if you like Age of Sigmar and it’s lore! Get to see the human side of the witch hunters and their regrets.

Just a totally solid fantasy story!

This is a great book. The writing is really great for a tie-in novel to a game. I've read a bit of some other Age of Sigmar stories and they were alright, but their prose didn't shine like Strachan's. I would definitely listen/read something by them again. But I think where this story really shines is the performance by Helen Keeley. They are an amazing reader. Great passion and intense moments really shine through. Their voice is awesome for creepy characters and roguish scoundrels alike. Love this book and performance in equal messure.

Age of Sigmar Zombie Survival!!!

First Helen Keeley, as the narrator for the audiobook does a spectacular job. She has done several of the Warhammer Horror novel narrations and they have been great. No exception here. She adds a certain feel of desperation that's fits the genre well. Second, Richard Strachan really does a nice job giving a fun version of Zombie Survival that fits the AoS setting very well. Best part, the Zombie Survival is not the central theme of the novel but a fairly well done plot-driver. No more spoilers but this was a lot of fun, worth your time, and of course a set up for a sequel! Enjoy!

Pretty solid listen

Despite it getting a little corny around the end, I'd recommend this audiobook. The author paints a fantastic visual picture for sure.

So glad I got this

This was a great telling of the world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Follow adventures of mere mortals who have no extraordinary powers. Love it love it love it!!!

Great Epilogue to the Broken Realms event

If you enjoyed the story of the Broken Realms books ( the transition into AOS 3rd edition) then this is a great vignette for the siege of Excelsis.
While the first half of the book was a little slower it eventually ramped up and the last 25% was great! Made me want to bust out some models and play it out on the table top.

Good listen

Probably the first Sigmar book I’ve really like outside of the gotrek series. Good narrator, decent story. Good enough for me to try the next book in the series.

A nice and tidy introduction to the father daughter duo.

I loved this take on the new witch hunters of azyr; with even a sleight nod to Hanover Toll in an earlier entry to their order this was just packed full of great moments. Anyone who is a fan of the Old world of Warhammer will still find some gritty environments and great scenes that evoke such grim dark you’ll squeal.
Doralia Van Denst is a great proper female protagonist. She is filled with conviction that is unfaltering and unwavering and plays a better witch hunter than her father at times.
I look forward to more novels that deal with the witch hunters at large and even characters such as these two.
The vampire in the book though is a little on the nose if you ask me, and could’ve used a little more fleshing out rather than the usage of certain early scenes.
