Publisher's summary

A North Korean ICBM crashes into the Sea of Japan. A veteran CIA officer is murdered in Ho Chi Minh City, and a package of forged documents goes missing. The pieces are there, but assembling the puzzle will cost Jack Ryan, Jr., and his fellow Campus agents precious time. Time they don't have.

The challenge facing President Jack Ryan is an old one with a terrifying new twist. The international stalemate with North Korea continues into its seventh decade. A young, untested dictator is determined to prove his strength by breaking the deadlock. Like his father before him, he hangs his plans on the country's nuclear ambitions. Until now, that program was impeded by a lack of resources. However, there has been a dramatic change in the nation's economic fortune. A rich deposit of valuable minerals have been found in the Hermit Kingdom. Coupled with their nuclear capabilities, the money from this find will make North Korea a dangerous force on the world stage.

There's just one more step needed to complete this perfect plan... the elimination of the president of the United States.

Jack Ryan books always fun

If you like Jack Ryan stories, both Jr and Sr, you will enjoy this ride. Good plot, usual cast of characters plus a few new ones. Good narrator. Well worth the credit.

Great story, Not so great narration.

I used to read everything Tom Clancy as a kid, and just recently found back to his Jack Ryan franchise here on Audible. For whatever reason I started out with the books narrated by Lou Diamond Phillips (Locked On, Dead or Alive, Threat Vector and Command Authority) and they were awesome! His intonation, his pronunciations and his ability to come up with different, but fitting, voices for different characters really pleased me. Scott Brick's narration on the other hand..*sigh* His intonation has made me almost fall asleep more than once, not just in this book but others as well.. His ability to make every statement from any of the characters seem like a profound moment (when they aren't meant to be) is, to me mat least, quite annoying. Not every interaction is meant to be deep and sould searching..Also, I cringe every time he pronounces Gavin Biery's last name..makes me wonder how he would pronounce the word fiery... I unfortunately, unless I I find some that are done by another narrator, I think this will be the last book I am going to bother listening to in this series..which really annoys me.. I wish I could agree with those that say Scott is perfect..

Best Jack Ryan series too date. Only hope the series will continue. Loved the close calls and emotion this book gave me. Tom Clancy and Mark Greaney have made this series one of my top choices for novels.

Mark Greaney makes the grade

Mr Greaney kept the story going in a manner consistent with Tom Clancy's work. There are few rapid conclusions and a few story misses but overall this was an enjoyable listen. I like Scott Brick but prefer Lou Diamond Phillips for these stories and hope he will return. Among the living, Crais, Childs and Greaney top the list.

Tom Clancy was a witch. the man's ability to read into the future: mesmerizing! he's one of those writers that you can't just read lightly, he makes you think about geopolitics differently

Good stuff

In the Clancy tradition... Dare I say better...Greaney was clearly the main force behind the last several Clancy books

The best Campus novel yet!

Full Force and Effect delves into the threat that North Korea and its obsession with power and nuclear weapons plays in the world today. The Campus is on the trail on a retired CIA officer, now working for a private company, when he is killed in front of them after refusing to hand information over to an attractive female agent, working for the company, which is looking to sell equipment to North Korea. This leads to an attempted assassination on President Jack Ryan. Adam Yao infiltrates the North Korean mining company used in the production of a new weapon that can reach the United States. This is the best Campus novel yet, with plenty of action, twists and turns. it is a one hell of thrill ride, well written by Mark Greaney, with excellent narration by Scott Brick.
