Another grusome page turner

Another grusome page turner from Stuart MacBride with enough twists and turns to hold your interest. Narrator Steve Worsley seems to suit the characters he describes well.

Best Yet

I'm reading the Logan McRae books in order and I've read three other Stuart MacBride books. This is the best Logan McRae book so far, second only to the standalone book "A Dark So Deadly".

Gory

I really like the Logan McRae series and the author has a wonderful sense of humor, but the gore is hard to ignore. I fast forward because I enjoy the books so much.

Least favored LoganMcRae title

The suspense is there all the while, but the story’s attempt to portray mental illness or criminal insanity fell way short. Worst thing is, I’m not even sure Mr. MacBrride was attempting as such. The predictable result is a poof at the end rather than a bang! There were too many characters, regular and guests, making the intricacies of typical MacBride novels fuzzy. Spoiler Alert. The Chief Detective Inspector from Hinch’s past (Fulls I belive) would have been a better villain, even w/the too -abundant hints meant to sidetrack the reader. It is an enjoyable read, and the narration was quite effective.

Great series!

Very well written and what a cast of characters. The narrator is perfect for this series and does a great job with men and women"s voices, drunks, different accents/dialects, children,.etc.! The stories take you through a variety of emotions. In-between horrific killings, and the banter and interactions between the main characters, including imitations of a ringing phone, "brrriiing", "click" a bunch of times, make me laugh and shake my head a lot. I'm on to the next book in the series

Suspense

Suspense right to the end!!! Love the characters. Not for the squeamish. Best one so far.

Too gory and disturbing, but so funny at the same time

Awful and wonderful all at the same time. Such a wonderful performance by the narrator. How can it be so funny and also so disturbing? Kind of wish I hadn’t listened to it, but yet...

If you like violence

I really enjoyed the unfolding of the mystery but I did not like the last few chapters. Gross is gross, though I can't think of an ending with swift finesse. The characters are good, the funny quips fly, the tensions are non stop and I still enjoy this series a lot!

Unique and enjoyable!

Another solid LM story. Yes it is gory. But it’s unique take on the antagonist that I absolutely loved. Imagine an intelligent Leatherface with Hannibal Lecter vibes. So yes, if you can’t stand the heat then you better stay out of the kitchen lol.

Only complaints (mainly for those that have read in order so far), this book changed my feeling about DI. I like the grumpy bear version. Not DI Hulk Smash.

Started out well, plateaued for a long stretch, then closed strong. Ending was enjoyable.

so very dark Stephen King like

definitely an adult series if you don't want to read about violence graphic violence with horrible outcomes and some other things this is not your cup of tea very very dark
