Publisher's summary

Ellison Jones is used to sirens in the night (unfortunately, they're usually coming to her house).

So, it's a surprise when the sirens that wake her from the dead come from across the street.

Nosy neighbor Marian Dixon's house is on fire.

Luckily, the Dixons are out of town.

Unluckily, there's a body found in the ashes—a body not killed by the fire.

With Ellison's husband, Detective Anarchy Jones, investigating, the neighbors are eager for a quick resolution. But a cunning killer has other plans.

Can Ellison and Anarchy uncover the truth, or will their lives (and the rest of the block) go up in flames?

Fire & Rain

Another stupendously terrific story in the country club mysteries by Julie Mulhern. Now comes the hard part: waiting for the next book in the series!

This series just keeps getting better and better

Love the way this series has taken a turn. Was worried it was going to start to get formulaic. Wrong. Really looking forward to the next audiobook!!!!!

Love these books!

These books ever fail to entertain me! I love them as growing up in the 70’s - so many of the things she writes about make me smile with memories! And the story lines are perfect! Only downfall-we need more books faster! Lol!

entertaining as ever

This is one of my favorite series. This had a little twist at the end that I sort of was expecting. Would have liked a little more from her parents in the book. But this was a clever story line and I liked the way it ended. Ready to start the next one once I finish current listen!

Live the story, hate the narrator

Narrator makes most characters , especially the main character sound weak and insipid. Almost every sentence ends with an upward inflection as in a tentative question. Going back to reading.

Back on track!

love this series! The last book I didn't care for the story, but this one is back to being the good ol stories that I love.

my one and only CON: the narrator could not keep a volume. I have to constantly turn it up because she whispers then the next sentence it's like she is yelling and I have to turn it back down. this is throughout the whole book. forget wearing earbuds you eardrums will be blown. I will say I normally really like this narrator.

The Best Yet

Julie Mulhern’s Country Club Murders is my absolute favorite cozy mystery series. I love reading them and then I enjoy listening to them while I do other tasks like driving on trips, cleaning the kitchen or crocheting.
Callie Beaulieu portrays the story so well as the narrator. She does an excellent job making the story come to life and being able to know which of the many characters is “speaking”.
I always recommend that people start with book #1, “The Deep End”, so they can catch the character development and the back stories of Julies’s colorful characters who weave their ways in and out of her imaginative plots. It’s so hard to figure which one, new or old, will be the murder and how Ellison will figure it out.
This story could be a stand alone. I believe it is my favorite so far. 📚❤️
